Camera Control Operator
The University of Virginia Police Department is seeking highly qualified applicants to fill multiple openings for Camera Control Operators. Camera Control Operators provide support to public safety agencies such as police, fire and EMS responding to incidents in and around the University.
This position will be expected to independently operate software programs, monitor radio traffic access control systems intrusion detection systems and utilize security camera resources to enhance response to incidents. Camera Control Operators must be able to effectively communicate with public safety agencies, work well under pressure and may be required to testify in court.
Camera Control Operators provide surveillance support and information for police, security and other emergency responders for criminal and/or other emergency incidents. They independently observe feeds (both permanent and temporary) from approximately 450 cameras and identify criminal incidents, suspicious activities, and determine the need for emergency responses.
Camera Control Operators direct cameras to locations associated with police or emergency responses as identified from radio transmissions and will provide information that will contribute to officer safety, identify criminals, and reduce property losses. These are unarmed, non-sworn civilian positions.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, preference will be given to applicants with some college education. Previous work or volunteer experience dealing with individuals from diverse backgrounds is required.
Applicants must possess a Valid Drivers License and have the ability to obtain a Virginia Drivers License. Applicants must also be able to successfully complete the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) operator training either before or during employment. The ability to follow specific oral and written instructions and safety procedures, as well as the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is required.
Applicants must be able to react appropriately in routine and emergency situations, and have the ability to detect problems and report information to the appropriate personnel. Demonstrated technical savvy and working knowledge of Microsoft office is required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in safety, security or law enforcement.

Jib / Steady Camera Operator
Job Description:
WXIA/WATL is looking for a jib /steady camera/ robotic operator for its newscasts, marketing program, daily talk show, and other productions. Candidate will work with the production, news, and local programming departments to meet the production needs for live, taped, and automated programming, under the direction of the show's Director and Operations Management.
Operator will work in conjunction with the Director to create visually-interesting and smooth, clean shots. Candidate will operate the Cammate Jib, Movi Steadicam, Cambot robotic camera system, and studio hand-held cameras, as well as help maintain the studio with lighting and set upkeep. It will be imperative that camera operators also assist in maintaining all of the above cameras and their rigs to make sure they are In good working order.

Advanced Camera Feature Engineer
The Driver Assistance area is growing within Ford. We are responsible for features today that use the sensors which will bring autonomy tomorrow. You will be part of a dynamic group of engineers striving to find new ways to further technology in the context of making drivers' lives easier and safer. Responsible for both existing and future technologies in the driver assistance area, using cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, as well as powerful ECUs with advanced processing capability and machine vision, to deliver new features for our customers. You will be helping deliver systems that assist our customers in their commutes every day, while acting as a stepping stone towards full autonomy.
Position Duties
Lead the feature design, development and model development of new camera based driver assistance features
Lead the development of Feature specifications, FMEAs, robustness disciplines and Design Verification Plans for advanced camera features
Own feature interfaces and develop interface requirements through all affected parties (Vehicle engineering, core and D&R engineering) of affected subsystems/components. Own feature description and communicate to vehicle teams /feature planning and marketing. Lead feature development
Lead HMI strategy development with HMI and Ergonomics; Verify and confirm through customer clinics, surveys, TGW/GQRS feedback and refine as required
Drive HMI strategy into implementing components (Switches/Instrument cluster displays, Center Stack displays, haptic feedbacks, other indicators) and lead approval process through appropriate governing bodies
Understand the performance requirements for the cameras (both as a visual image and as a sensor), and establish procedures to verify performance both quantitatively and subjectively
Understand system interactions in terms of vehicle dynamics to identify possible improvements and trade-offs. Identify changes needed to improve performance and meet objectives
Establish Feature objectives and ensure system operation to meet the objectives through structured component, sub-system, and system level test methodologies
Oversee/Sign off of Feature Level performance per a given vehicle
Work with the Ford Hardware in the Loop Team to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle level testing
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, Mechanical with Electronic background) or Computer Science
- 1+ year of experience with camera based driver assistance systems
- 1+ year of experience using Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, and/or Vector CAN tools
- 1+ year of writing vehicle, system, feature or component specifications
