Job Description & Requirements
The Receiver is responsible for pumping incoming raw milk or cream from tank trucks into storage tanks, document and record volume into inventory.
High Responsibility with quality and efficiency being the major concern.
Pump incoming milk from tank trucks to storage tank, and compute and record volume of milk received.
Weigh loaded truck on platform scale and records weight on log sheet.
Dip and pour sample of milk from vent hole of truck into bottle for laboratory analysis.
Take temperature of milk, and record data and temperature reading.
May perform antibiotic and other laboratory tests as required.
Transfer milk to tank, read milk*flow meter, and record volume pumped on record sheet.
Wash and sanitize interior and exterior of tank.
Weigh empty truck and record weight.
Compute difference between loaded and unloaded weights of truck to verify accuracy of meter.
Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP's.
Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.

Milk Lab Technician
The Milk Lab Technician is responsible for maintenance of the milk lab and preparation of infant feedings. The technician is responsible for collection, storage, and inventory of breast milk. They prepare the breast milk and formula daily according to orders, recipes, and department policies. The technician is responsible for cleaning and stocking the milk lab and reports to the Milk Lab Manager.

Performs duties to ensure the daily operations of the Milk Lab. Maintains the lab so that breast milk and fortified formula feeds can be prepared in a safe environment.
Responsible for following the policies of the UAMS NICU Milk Lab in accordance with the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).

Milk Nutrition Associate
Receives and processes human milk and related supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures.

Description of Work
The SLPH Environmental Sciences (ES) laboratories offer comprehensive analysis of drinking water, milk/dairy products and other environmental matrices through microbiological, inorganic, organic and radiochemical testing. The ES Microbiology laboratory provides centralized analytical support to local health departments and state agencies for the bacteriological testing of water and milk/dairy products. The position administratively and technically supervises the staff in the ES Microbiology Laboratory and the technologist in the supervisor position is required to perform these duties as well. This supervisor will assure that all personnel have demonstrated competence in the assigned procedures, satisfactorily performed the analytical testing and must assure that the laboratory has met all water and milk quality control regulatory requirements. This individual will review the analytical data and prepare the final reports for distribution. The supervisor will be responsible for hiring and for completing performance reviews of all staff. Analytical results produced by this position and related quality control functions are subject to review by federal auditors as part of the laboratory's drinking water and Grade A milk/dairy certification requirements. This position must obtain FDA certified analyst status through successful annual analysis of milk proficiency samples for all certified methods and triennial onsite evaluation by a US FDA Certification Officer. This certification must be maintained while assigned milk/dairy processing testing duties.

Responsible for receiving trailers of bulk products and testing of raw and heat-treated dairy ingredients to determine compliance to FDA and NYS regulations and Byrne Dairy standards.
Minimum of a GED or High School diploma; prefer a two-year degree in dairy or related sciences. 0-2 years of experience. Preferred experience in manufacturing/machine operation specifically in the dairy/food industry.

Milk Component Technician
The incumbent is responsible for performing analysis of dairy samples and obtain accurate results in a timely manner.
Prepare samples for testing including receiving, verify accuracy and data entry of the information.
Perform added water samples as directed by sample specifications.
Prepare standard controls, verification samples and perform necessary quality control tasks to verify accurate testing of samples.
Ensure that instruments are operating properly and samples are analyzed according to Standard Operating Procedures.
Provide report of results in accordance with client requirements and producers specifications.
Maintain equipment in proper operating order and calibrate according to specifications.
Prepare materials for daily analysis and store samples when analysis is completed.
Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.

Duties for the position include:
Receiving and Loading out all bulk milk and cream shipments
Tending the Milk Receiving process from Tanker to Silo
Handling, moving, connecting, disconnecting, cleaning, and inspecting receiving bay and the equipment servicing the bay
Computing weights and measurements and recording information relative to amounts received
Maintaining accurate documentation as required
Ensuring appropriate handling of bulk milk product into the system, verifying the type and source farm/carrier of the incoming raw product.
Performing Quality Tests on Raw Milk in accordance with company or regulatory guidelines
Ensures that tagging and identifying notifications on tanks are correct and recorded properly
Submits timely and accurate reports
Maintains clean work area
Maintains strong service relationships with carrier operators
Receiving and load-out bulk milk shipments.
Confirm quality tests on raw milk in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Move trucks onto and out of receiving area.
Maintain a clean working area.
