The Receiver is responsible for pumping incoming raw milk or cream from tank trucks into storage tanks, document and record volume into inventory.
High Responsibility with quality and efficiency being the major concern.
Pump incoming milk from tank trucks to storage tank, and compute and record volume of milk received.
Weigh loaded truck on platform scale and records weight on log sheet.
Dip and pour sample of milk from vent hole of truck into bottle for laboratory analysis.
Take temperature of milk, and record data and temperature reading.
May perform antibiotic and other laboratory tests as required.
Transfer milk to tank, read milk*flow meter, and record volume pumped on record sheet.
Wash and sanitize interior and exterior of tank.
Weigh empty truck and record weight.
Compute difference between loaded and unloaded weights of truck to verify accuracy of meter.
Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP's.
Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot.
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.

Milk Lab Technician
The Milk Lab Technician is responsible for maintenance of the milk lab and preparation of infant feedings. The technician is responsible for collection, storage, and inventory of breast milk. They prepare the breast milk and formula daily according to orders, recipes, and department policies. Description of Work
The SLPH Environmental Sciences (ES) laboratories offer comprehensive analysis of drinking water, milk/dairy products and other environmental matrices through microbiological, inorganic, organic and radiochemical testing. The ES Microbiology laboratory provides centralized analytical support to local health departments and state agencies for the bacteriological testing of water and milk/dairy products. The position administratively and technically supervises the staff in the ES Microbiology Laboratory and the technologist in the supervisor position is required to perform these duties as well. This supervisor will assure that all personnel have demonstrated competence in the assigned procedures, satisfactorily performed the analytical testing and must assure that the laboratory has met all water and milk quality control regulatory requirements. This individual will review the analytical data and prepare the final reports for distribution. The supervisor will be responsible for hiring and for completing performance reviews of all staff. Analytical results produced by this position and related quality control functions are subject to review by federal auditors as part of the laboratory's drinking water and Grade A milk/dairy certification requirements. This position must obtain FDA certified analyst status through successful annual analysis of milk proficiency samples for all certified methods and triennial onsite evaluation by a US FDA Certification Officer. Ability to perform and record routine and complex laboratory tests and procedures, and to complete basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to perceive colors normally and to make olfactory distinctions
Knowledge of safety practices and hazards of working in a microbiology laboratory as demonstrated through prior laboratory experience.
Ability to perform prolonged microscopic examinations.
Experience testing environmental samples following EPA protocols
Specific knowledge of the EPA Drinking Water Program
Experience with microbiological analysis of food and/or milk/dairy products
Experience communicating with external clients
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in a food and/or environmental microbiology laboratory; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification:
Certification by the FDA as a certified milk analyst will be required of new employees.
