Scope of Work:
Perform routine production line tasks with minimal supervision in the functional area of machining.
Must maintain high quality through application of the most effective machining techniques, including explicitly following all procedures and set-up sheets.
Could include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Set-up CNC Mills
- Run production in accordance with written work instructions
- Instruct operators
- Inspect parts
- Collect, measure and enter dimensional data using SPC
- Identify non-conforming material and notify Supervision immediately
- Document production output as directed by Supervision
- Change offsets as required to maintain process capability
Could include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Read and Understand G and M code for CNC Mill programming
- Upload new programs and download existing programs onto proper media for storage
- Remove all tools and holders from previous jobs, clean and return to Tool Crib
- Mounting of collets, fixtures, building tools
- Mount tooling according to the tool sheet or the program
- Indicate and align all tools, set all limits, variables, and load monitors
- Touch off tools on in all axis, up to 5.
- Produce first part and submit to inspection
- Make changes based on inspection results in order to get first piece acceptance
- Assure that all gages and necessary documentation are in the work area
- Note all tool and insert changes
- Instruct operator on how to run the process
- Operate any process in accordance with the procedures and set up sheets
- Support Research & Development efforts by collaborating with respective engineers
- High school diploma
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Mill Machinist.

Monitor and control boiler and turbine steam cycle chemistry to include operating, maintaining and troubleshooting in-line chemistry instrumentation, sampling equipment, chemistry monitoring system, chemical pumps and powdered resin condensate polishers.
Receive and prepare bulk chemistry shipments.
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot pretreatment equipment to include clarifier, pressure filters, carbon filters, reverse osmosis, demineralizers and all auxiliary equipment.
Environmental Sampling and Analysis to include NPDES Sampling; maintain environmental logs and operate the ash basin wastewater treatment facilities.
Fuel Sampling and Analysis to include operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the coal sampling equipment; collect and prepare coal and fuel oil samples; analyze LOI; collect and analyze mill fines samples.
Monitor the Flue Gas Desulfurization Process Chemistry to include sampling and analyzing limestone, gypsum and FGD process slurry; maintain data logs and communicate to operations
Work safely and effectively in a team environment.
Learn basic skills in other craft areas such as mechanical, electrical and I&C.
Serve as a member of station emergency response teams, (Fire Brigade, Confined Space, Rescue, Hazmat, and First Responder).
