Job OverviewUnder general supervision and guidance from Automation Team Leads, Shift Supervisors, and Technicians the Automation Machine Tender supports the operation of the Automation equipment. The machine tender is responsible to start and stop the equipment and tend to routine equipment alarms and faults. Attend daily production meetings and shift hand off meetings to ensure good communication and pass downs
A high level of engagement is expected; this means that Machine Tenders are expected to work on improving themselves by working on training applicable to their position.
Engagement on 7 steps, and improvement events is expected so that the Machine Tender can provide input to implement containment actions and countermeasures to resolve quality, or process issues.

100% Perform the following:
Read and interpret information from planning documents, drawings, blueprints, sketches, specifications, charts, graphs and engineering orders to plan and check the planning of operational sequences and methods required to operate milling and profiling machines.
Perform mathematical calculations as necessary to establish and lay out reference lines, machining guidelines, center points, radii and angles, including multiple and compound angles and contours or where precision milling is required.
Apply a working knowledge of the machining characteristics of various metals, plastics, ceramics and composite materials to select and mount standard or improvised tooling, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures. Set and adjust machine feeds, speeds and depth of cut.
Setup various conventional, computer and numerically controlled milling and profiling machines and operate, manually or in the automatic mode, to perform and operation within the capacity of the machine to fabricate production, engineering and development parts or to proof new or revised tapes. Use precision measuring instruments to check work in progress and the finished product for adequacy and accuracy of dimensions, configuration and surface finish.
Record machining data and statistics manually or with the aid of a computer or computer-based systems.

Develop CNC Milling machining programs.
Designs machining fixture for current products and/or new product implementation.
Consults with tooling vendors as required to optimize CNC program and tooling performance.
Reviews part programs and CMM or gaging inspection process to assure consistency
Applies statistical methods to determine manufacturing process capability as defined in the quality plan.
- Create Routings, CNC Tooling Set up Sheets, process qualification documentation and Quality plans for new component machining.Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
Strong communication skills, along with blueprint reading skills and GD&T expertise.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. )Ability to effectively present information to employees and customers
Knowledge of CNC Milling Processes.
Ability to read and react to CMM reports
Knowledge of 3-D CAD/CAM system.
Catia preferred.Ability to plan for and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to understand and implement PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans.Ability to use advanced engineering techniques for problem resolution (FMEA, designed experiment, etc.)Education and Experience
10+ Years CNC Machining Operations Experience - Specifically working with Metal Cutting.
High school degree required.
Associates or BS degree in engineering is desirable.CNC programming skills, HAAS programming knowledge is a plus 3-5 years experience
