Millwright Apprentice - Seadrift Operations (Sdo)
The Dow Chemical Company has job opportunities for Millwright Apprentices located in Seadrift, TX. Millwright Technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process and mechanical equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI (American National Standards Institute) pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, mixers and agitators.
Apprentices will participate in a 3 year company-paid program and will report to an Apprenticeship Program Technical Leader / Trainer who will support the Apprentice throughout the apprenticeship program. Through a combination of technical learning at a community college and on-the-job training at our chemical plants, Apprentices will acquire comprehensive expert knowledge and experience in the Millwright field. During the program, Apprentices will be offered paid tuition, wages and some benefits. Upon successful completion of the program, Apprentices will have earned an Associate's Degree. Apprentices who successfully complete the program will also be highly considered for a job within the company.
Individuals selected to fill an available Apprentice opening will be required to sign an offer letter that will commit them to working for Dow for 2 years following the completion of the program.
The hourly rate of pay for this role is $14.
During the program Apprentices will learn skills around:
Maintaining and repairing all types of mechanical equipment.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and replacing defective equipment parts.
Reading blueprints and design drawings.
Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revision, and development of procedures.
The hire date for these opportunities will be early - late summer.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.500 out of 4.000 if:

You have graduated from high school or college or obtained a GED within the last 2 years

We are currently seeking a Hydraulic Repairer. This position is at our Cudahy, WI plant located approximately 5 miles south of Milwaukee.
Position is responsible for repairing and maintaining hydraulic equipment in proper operating condition following prints and specifications, using manual or power tools and other material as required.
1.Analyzes and earmarks operating problem on equipment and on hydraulic systems, repairing and rebuilding as required. Disassembles and inspects parts, laying out, erecting, repairing or rebuilding same when necessary. Services any mechanical system including: hydraulic units, pumps, valves, tubing, packing, and other components.
2.Follows dimensional drawings and equipment specifications. Must be able to comprehend hydraulic symbols and circuit diagrams. Applies mathematics to solve such problems as pressure, force, volume, capacity, velocity, and others as required.
3.Uses tools such as pipe, box and socket wrenches, hammers, pliers, saws, pipe threading and cutting machines, pressure gages, tube bending and flaring equipment and other tools and measuring devices in performing assignments.

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and direction of the maintenance team leader, installs, aligns and repairs various types of machinery. Performs rigging, welding and fabrication.
Make modifications using necessary materials. Millwrights will perform maintenance on any equipment or facilities which their skills support in a compliant quality manner. EQUIPMENT: Including but not limited to:

DUTIES: Including but not limited to:
1.Performs preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on industrial and utility equipment, including but not limited to wasted heat and co-generation equipment and operating equipment.
2.Dismantles, lays out, moves and installs various types of machines, equipment, and vessels.
3.Repairs equipment by installing bushings, sprockets, bearings, adjustable belts, packing glands, seals and gaskets. Analyzes problems and takes appropriate corrective action(s).
4.Repairs broken parts by welding, brazing, cutting, or spot welding. Fabricates new parts for machinery, and equipment using gas, heli-arc and electrical welding equipment. Uses plasma cutting equipment. Works with brass, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics and synthetic materials.
5.Operates equipment necessary to core drill or bore masonry and concrete. Installs anchors and fasteners and machine faces.
6.Constructs rigging necessary to move equipment. Also constructs rigging for other crafts.
7.Tests equipment for pressure leaks. Also inspects sealing components, O-rings, seals, gaskets and machine faces.
8.Installs grout, shims, etc., necessary to set and/or level equipment.
9.Lubricates new equipment or existing equipment upon repair and assembly.
10. Attends and actively participates in HAZOPS, waste walkthroughs, Kaizen events, or any other operations, lean six-sigma, quality, safety or environmental training/initiatives as required.
11. Prepares and assists technicians, supervisors, etc. in preparing labor and material estimates.
12. Enters/charges labor hours using the computerized maintenance management system and uses the Office Suite software where applicable.
13. Assists supervision with the assigning, scheduling and prioritization of work order request using the maintenance management systems.
14. Makes recommendations and prepares orders for parts, spare parts, additional stock room items, tools, etc.
15. Consults with supervision and other mechanics on problem resolution/troubleshooting. Keeps supervision informed of problem issues.
16. Installs/repairs vibration analysis parts, records vibration readings, reports and data, as requested.

Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by the EC, EFP/EM. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.
Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school education or equivalent.
Job-related experience for 4 years minimum.
Working knowledge of the following areas: welding, brazing, burning, bending, heat treatment of metals, shearing and drilling, machine shop theory and practices, nomenclature of assigned equipment.
Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
Maintains awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
Possesses general carpentry skills.
Ability to arc weld, MIG weld, TIG weld, and use oxy-acetylene equipment (stainless, carbon, steel, and aluminum).
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Ability to perform basic plumbing and piping.
Ability to perform basic structural and sheet metal fabrication.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to use basic machine shop equipment, i.e., lathes, mills, and grinders.

This position will maintain, repair and test industrial machine shop machines for our San Diego base customer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements new and follow existing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting programs for machinery and equipment to maintain maximum operational readiness.
Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
Repairs and replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
Repairs and maintains the operating condition on industrial production equipment and machinery.
Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
Analyzes test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using volt meters, and other testing devices.
Installs, tests, repairs, and troubleshoots various CNC machines and controls.
Provides regular machinery/equipment status updates to the respective Product Line Supervisor's and Product Family Manager's on a monthly basis or as the status changes.

Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, parts manuals, electrical and mechanical schematics, assembly instructions and troubleshooting guides.
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing and installation of industrial equipment
