Under general supervision, the Model Maker Apprentice assists the Lead Model Maker with fabricating mechanical parts and fixtures, of varying degrees of accuracy and complexity, which are used to build mechanical, electrical, or acoustical subassemblies and prototype models.
Under guidance of the Lead Model Maker, learn how to safely operate the equipment in the Model Shop, and how to maintain a safe work environment.

Part quality must meet the expectations of the Lead Model Maker, who will determine the appropriate quality level based upon the customer need.
Assemble prototypes and mock-ups to simulate new product appearance.
Assist with the construction of tools, jigs, and fixtures for assembly and manufacturing needs to support product development prototyping needs.
Under guidance of the Lead Model Maker, learn to interpret engineering 3D and 2D CAD data, specifications, sketches, and drawings.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Advanced technical school training preferred.

Eagerness to learn model making from an experienced model maker, and a willingness to do so from the ground up.

Model Maker / Sheet Metal Craftsman (5012-523)
Support all activities in the New Product Development groups by the fabrication of new parts or the assembly of working Prototype merchandisers, using the necessary equipment to produce a high quality product.
1.Work in collaboration with the designer and engineers developing new product using the modular concept to minimize the duplication of component parts and to streamline assembly methods.
2.Manufacture prototype merchandisers using material bills, drawings or sketches.
3.Effectively, efficiently and safely utilize the equipment in the Model Shop to support all areas of New Product Development to produce parts, prototypes or models.
4.Coordinate efforts with all the areas of manufacturing in the scheduling and procuring components or parts to ensure a timely and efficient completion to assigned projects.
5.Document changes during the prototype stages of developing new product and communicates changes to the designer or engineer assigned to the project.
6.Assist in the implementation of new products into the manufacturing areas either in Bridgeton or off site manufacturing facilities.

Must have a basic knowledge of refrigeration components and be certified in brazing.
Associates Degree Highly preferred.

The Tool & Model Maker constructs precision prototype parts and models from raw stock materials.
Essential Functions and Competencies
Fabricate tools, molds, jigs and fixtures for complex automation equipment and production fixtures
