Position Summary:
Support all activities in the New Product Development groups by the fabrication of new parts or the assembly of working Prototype merchandisers, using the necessary equipment to produce a high quality product.
Responsibilities:
1.Work in collaboration with the designer and engineers developing new product using the modular concept to minimize the duplication of component parts and to streamline assembly methods.
2.Manufacture prototype merchandisers using material bills, drawings or sketches.
3.Effectively, efficiently and safely utilize the equipment in the Model Shop to support all areas of New Product Development to produce parts, prototypes or models.
4.Coordinate efforts with all the areas of manufacturing in the scheduling and procuring components or parts to ensure a timely and efficient completion to assigned projects.
5.Document changes during the prototype stages of developing new product and communicates changes to the designer or engineer assigned to the project.
6.Assist in the implementation of new products into the manufacturing areas either in Bridgeton or off site manufacturing facilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to read and comprehend blue prints and material bills.
Must be able to read wiring diagrams and be able to assemble and wire case components.
Must have a basic knowledge of refrigeration components and be certified in brazing.
Associates Degree Highly preferred.
Certification in refrigerated systems a plus but not required.
EPA certification for refrigerate handling.

Primary Function
The Model maker assists with the design, arrangement, and building of experimental subassemblies and prototype models requiring a high degree of accuracy. Responsible for fabrication of engineering prototypes per engineering specifications.
Responsibilities
Analyzes engineering specifications, sketches, and drawings and applies information to construct special tools or fittings to build models.
Receives and inspects parts from vendors and production and determines if parts meet requirements of engineering schematics, standards, and specifications.
Comprehensive knowledge of model shop machinery, including lathe, mill, power shear, press brake, and welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick).
Background in blueprint reading, layouts, precision measuring equipment, along with the ability to mark up drawings with necessary corrections.
Prototype sheet metal, plastic, and small scale tooling components for the fabrication of sample water heaters and / or water heater components.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience in service mechanical part fabrication.

The position is a hands-on aerospace-engineering hardware-focused fabrication technician located within the Mechanical Engineering Product Development Model Shop. The primary job responsibility is mechanical fabrication of prototypes, model parts and assemblies, using composites, wood, aluminum and unique materials, in support of internal customers for display, training and development. Technician will develop, maintain, repair, and modify structural model components, fixturing and tooling using advanced fabrication skills. Small Scale Model Maker And 3D Design Assistant
The successful candidate for this position will collaborate with architectural design teams to plan and construct physical architectural models that support marketing pursuits and ongoing projects. These models are primarily made from laser cut acrylic (Plexiglas) and wood, and often include elements made with an in-house 3D printer and CNC machine; experience with 3D modeling software (Rhino, SketchUp) and AutoCAD is highly desirable.
Summary/Objective
The Small Scale Model Maker and 3D Design Assistant will work closely with the Director of Design and Architect in order to create visuals for upcoming design ideas. They will be required to create renderings, build models and compile visual presentations for internal and external parties.

Under general supervision, the Model Maker Apprentice assists the Lead Model Maker with fabricating mechanical parts and fixtures, of varying degrees of accuracy and complexity, which are used to build mechanical, electrical, or acoustical subassemblies and prototype models.
Representative Duties:
Under guidance of the Lead Model Maker, learn how to safely operate the equipment in the Model Shop, and how to maintain a safe work environment.
