PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To ensure the integrity and reliability of all measurement recording and control systems in compliance with Company policy & procedures, applicable DOT regulations, and applicable AGA / API standards.
SCOPE AND MAGNITUDE:
Test, calibrate, operate, maintain, and inspect electronic flow meters and all associated measurement equipment, control valves, and relief valves on designated pipeline system or truck terminal.
Maintain accurate measurement of gas/liquids into and out of an assigned area of the pipeline district
Monitor, document, and address any lost and unaccounted for gas volumes
Maintain turbine, Coriolis, ultrasonic, and orifice meters, and densitometers
Install, maintain and troubleshoot field communications backbone and end devices including spread spectrum, air link, licensed, and Internet Protocol equipment
Collect monthly and quarterly gas samples
Complete all applicable and required documentation for all aspects of gas measurement, reporting, and position
Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of pipeline facilities in accordance with Company procedures/policies and DOT regulations
Assist in cost control of pipeline operations and maintenance
Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate electronic flow computers, gas chromatographs, moisture and H2 analyzers, control valve, and actuated valves in designated pipeline system along with other associated measurement and control equipment

Provides direction for all aspects of planning, managing and coordinating all gas meter service activities. Accountability includes, but is not limited to, public and employee safety, O&M budgeting control, meter & service operations, and field collection activities. Individual is responsible for all aspects of Meter Service activities within assigned area; manages the financial activities associated with the area of responsibility, replacement of gas meters, customer requested service, and staffing, etc.; responsible for satisfying regulatory compliance within assigned area; and provides support in the negotiation and administration of labor contracts for unit employees in Gas Meter Services.

Advanced Meter Installer
SoCal Gas is seeking qualified applicants for their Advanced Meter (AM) Installer positions located in Santa Barbara.
Starting wages for this position is $21.42 per hour; paid wages begin at the start of a 15-day training course in Pico Rivera, which may be held Monday through Friday, from 4:00 PM to midnight or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Training is pass or fail. Most shifts start at approximately 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday and may include some scheduled Saturdays.
AM Installers pick up assigned work at district locations and operate a Company vehicle throughout the day. They perform regulator and meter changes using truck-mounted or portable meter change device and basic hand tools.
Other meters require an installation of a Meter Transmission Unit (MTU) module. Installers read meters, operate service valves, take and record pressures, and input data into handheld devices and/or computers of daily work orders. They ensure customers understand and are satisfied with work completed. Installers operate and maintain a wide variety of tools and instruments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Certain functions of this job require physical strength and endurance needed to effectively and safely perform assigned duties. Sr. Adv Meter Operations Coord
Responsible for the daily technology operations associated with connectivity, application-setup, configuration, and administration of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. Specifically Radio Frequency (RF) communication equipment, Backhaul monitoring, Network Server application administration, and monitoring performance and quality associated with IS batch interfaces.
Evaluate and validate data in the MDMS system to work data exceptions and monitor system inputs/outputs to ensure quality and efficacy of billing data. Assess the performance of AMI system components through the tracking of meter reading data including the investigation of new alerts on customers who are missing large amounts of meter data (reads) or have meter data outside of past parameters.
Provide technical leadership (hardware, software, communication paths) in meeting the technology needs of the AMI operations group and serve as the technology liaison to PPL's ISD organization. Demonstrating technical skills and knowledge associated with AMI systems, applications, interfaces, communication paths and administration policies. Direct the activities associated with system and application tuning for optimal performance.
Responsible for AMI system performance metrics including; Head End Network Server availability, MV90 System availability, Telecommunications and Fiber Backhaul channels to collectors, % meter reads fed to CSS billing engine monthly, % availability of "actual" interval-meter reads monthly.

This includes developing the programming and completing the testing to assure the quality checks provide the benefit to AMI Operations and PPL Electric Utilities.
Responsible for understanding overall requirements placed on IT and AMI Operations resources. This includes all tariffed rate programs and options for customers, and other business/regulatory requirements, to understand whether the planned schedule remains feasible or must be adjusted.
Responsible for assessing and evaluating the state of current data quality checks within the Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Meter Data Management systems, and subsequently establishing high level and operational metrics and reports to manage the systems efficiently when expected data management thresholds are not met.
Participate in testing of new AMI and MDM system releases including analysis of module interaction and enabling system functions. Provide advice to business applications project teams concerning design and supportability of proposed business systems solutions.
