Injection Mold Process Technician
The Process Technician supports the production efforts in the staging of tooling and startup of production jobs while maintaining reasonable efficiencies, minimizing tool damage/wear, and preserving the safety of all viability. Support of engineering development and corrective/preventative action efforts are required as necessary.
Provide machine set up and process support for all production processes
Clean, stage and tear down molds (with extreme care and attention) to meet production needs
Participates in test shots.
Measure first shots for each production job, as necessary
Run sample parts and facilitate in establishing processes for new and transfer tooling projects
Promote 5S maintenance & improvements
Responsible to repair, rebuild, or overhaul all types of production, service equipment and machine parts in all production areas and replacement for various production equipment
Develop and follow the standardized work instructions to minimize machine downtime,
Knowledge and understanding of all thermoplastics and processes & all of the set-ups on all of the molding equipment and machinery.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of parts.
Maintains liaisons with Engineers and Die Maintenance
Performs in-process audits and communicates directly with the Quality department
Operates measuring tools such as micrometers, dial and digital calipers, and etc.
Visually inspects surfaces for flaws and makes adjustments accordingly.
Operates secondary equipment such as ultrasonic welder, drill press, trim press and gate cutters.
Operate a variety of forklifts and other material moving equipment and tools.
Able to work any overtime as necessary.
Education / Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Two-year training certificate or Associates Degree in plastics-related subject preferred
Attended advanced training courses in plastics injection molding processing preferred
5-10 years’ experience with advanced plastics injection molding processing in the 1500 – 4000 ton machine range preferred

- Operate assigned Rocheleau blow molding (Mat.Tech.I), Bekum, Kautex blow molding (Mat.Tech.II), production line equipment to maximize High 5 Operational Metrics: Efficiency, Quality, Safety, Engagement and Resin Loss.
- Independently perform machine adjustments within allowable parameters, perform routine machine maintenance tasks and minor repairs on all production equipment, including molders and peripheral quality equipment on assigned lines.
- Identify and recommend improvements and support all company continuous improvements activities. Work with plant leadership, set up and maintenance to implement improvements. Sustain 6S program in the production cells, supporting team members and reporting repeat variation to leadership.
- Ensure adherence to customer specifications and accurately document all records related to downtime, production, scrap, repairs, process deviation, etc.
- Act as a mentor and technical resource for other team members and new members learning technical functions.
- Assist in identifying non-conforming product and re-work of non-conforming product as necessary.
- Work safely, following all safety policies and proactively participating in the safe work of others and the safety of the overall environment.
- Perform other miscellaneous support work to enable the team to be successful and as requested by plant leadership. Assist in the duties of other team members, including helping to cover break times, etc.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, lift or carry parts, material and product of up to 30 pounds. Must be able to grasp, pinch, reach, finger, pick, or otherwise work with fingers, hands and arms for regular tasks. Must laugh at jokes and enjoy attempts at humor from other team members, no matter how feeble.
Must be able to wear eye and hearing protection and operate effectively in temperatures ranging from 60 to 110 F.
Must climb steps, maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling, have good hand/eye coordination, stoop, and bend. Must be capable of visually detecting defects, depth, colors, variances, and see objects as real.

Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. Supply your own tool set per Maintenance Required Tool list. 1 year experience performing routine scheduled Preventative Maintenance and lubrication, machine setups, product changeovers, running machine adjustments and tuning.
Must pass the Ramsay at a Production Tech II level. Ability to lift up to 65 pounds. Ability to read, write, speak and understand instructions given in English.
Ability to recognize material and product defects and hear machine operations sounds to detect jams, changes in speed and other routine running conditions and have a working knowledge of production machinery. Manual and finger dexterity. Ability to read and understand Equipment Operations manuals, basic electrical and mechanical drawings and to trouble-shoot basic automation control-related devices including but not limited to: photo and proximity sensors, switches, pneumatic valves.

Mold Setter II
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Employee will read and comprehend specifications, blueprints, operating manuals, and follow all instruc-tions and written procedures.
Employee will, by working from verbal and/or process guide books, to set up molds in various types and sizes of molding machines to produce plastic components.
Removing and mounting molds in injection molding machines including the making and hooking up of water cooling lines as well as hydraulic and pneumatic core pull lines.
Maintaining molding machine cleanliness, setting up auxiliary equipment, and adjustment and minor repair of injection molding machines as assigned under the supervision of Molding Technicians and maintenance personnel.
Communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and supervisor to insure continuous production operation.
Maintain a clean and orderly working environment including and not limited to the setup room as well as the production floor.
Clean molds daily, and perform automation validations including proper documentation associated with all mold cleanings and validations.

Responsibilities- Utilizes CAD or NX software for designing injection molds.
Supplies complete tool designs, including 2-D prints.
Interacts with the customers from initial design concept through design acceptance.
Manages and maintains strict timeline adherence as set forth by the schedule.
Interacts with Business Development, Customers, internal Quality functions, Process Engineers and tool manufacturing to help alleviate undesirable conditions.
Understands and applies mold flow as necessary to achieve positive results.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
A wide degree to creativity and latitude is expected.
May lead a project or task group in collaboration with other Tool Designers, Programmers, Engineers and staff from other disciplines.
Coordinates worker activities in absence of Supervisor.
Assists with the coordination of 6S inspections to ensure areas are safe and clean.
May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects. Qualifications- Requires education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a technical field and 2-5 years mold design experience or 8-12 years' experience. Must be familiar with a wide variety of molding concepts, practices, and procedures.
Requires injection mold design experience with the ability to utilize Auto Desk Mold Flow, and NX a plus.
Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to TMD success.
Must be familiar with standard tooling concepts, practices and procedures. Experience with Autodesk Power Mill a plus.
Has general knowledge of Mold Flow software as well as NX, for basic mold design and 2-D print generation.
May have to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on - company needs.
