Identify causes of tool issues and develop plans to remake, repair or upgrade tooling to increase operational efficiency.
Check dimension of tools and/or patterns using CMM and a variety of hand measuring devices, including micrometers, height gauges and dial indicators.
Develops and managers tooling projects
Set up and operate all department machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, rotary tables; monitors and adjusts mechanical processes as required.
Provides technical assistance in ordering new molds and fixtures.

Oversees tooling estimates, purchases, new tooling, production machine shop, machine vendor relations, machine estimating; Evaluate quotes to determine cost justification and manufacturing feasibility.
Ability and knowledge to solve tooling design, rework, and wax press operation problems
Perform cost analysis for rework/repair and selecting most efficient, cost effective solutions for problem.
Understanding of tooling automation methods and practices. Essential equipment, tools and machinery used includes:
Dimensional measuring tools, equipment and machinery; Basic hand tools; CMM, CNC
Minimum 5-7 years practical experience as Tool & Die Maker. Preferably wax or plastic injection molds.
Completion of a structured training or apprenticeship program and at least two years of experience as a Journey Mold Maker or an equivalent combination of structured training and experience.
Experience with, working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation
Ability to perform math calculations, including algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to use dimensional measuring tools and devices
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Previous experience in the construction and operation of wax molds is desirable
