The Mold Maker needs to be someone who can creatively think outside of the box to design and repair molds within the shop. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently to conduct the appropriate fixtures for each assigned mold. The company launches multiple types of products, this person must be able to work within a rapid paced environment and must be able to manage multiple projects at once.
- Ability to use all equipment including EDM & OD – ID Grinder
- Ability to sketch out your own mold from part – print, verbal instructions by supervisor or VP of Engineering pertaining to shrinkage, type of runner, gating, venting, molding machine to be used, critical dimensions, critical finishes, and absence of flash
- Ability to repair any mold in the shop by:
- Diagnosing the problem
- Evaluating how to fix it and how long it will take
- Finding ways to prevent this problem from occurring again
- Making parts for replacing broken or warn out parts
- Performing proper assembly and respecting checklist for all functions of the mold
- Ability to keep accurate timing in regards of your estimated hours
- Perform other duties as assigned

- 10 years of experience as a mold maker
- Possess a good understanding of plastic technology, steel, welding techniques, heat treat and plating
- Performing requirements of mold makers “B” and “C”
- Ability to perform and dictate polishing practices to achieve finish on plastic parts as required
Mold Maker (Hodges, South Carolina) -- 1St Or 3Rd Shift
As a Mold Maker at Caterpillar Inc., you will perform a variety of manual and/or machine functions related to Coremaking such as dipping, inspecting and assembling (3 or less) cores. You will also operate and/or lock out equipment to clean molding floor and reclaim or dispose of sand in basement levels.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Core box mounting
Mixing and testing core sand
Molding functions such as preparing pouring basins
Mold spraying, drying and/or venting
Operating punch-out and related equipment
Performs melting functions such as sample taking, slag skimming
Finishing functions such as riser breaking (floor)

With minimal supervision, efficiently manage all mold making techniques used in the Department. Ability to train and instruct others in many processes. Create complex and high-quality molds, and generate castings on a production timeline for product assembly. De-mold, clean-up and tool component castings from molds to prepare for assembly.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Familiarity with materials and compounds used in-house for generating molds and castings, as well as knowledge/experience with other materials (not used in-house) that might be beneficial to production.
Understanding and experience with gravity-feed molds so they inject and vent properly.
Ability to duplicate pre-existing 2-piece box and block molds, and create parting blocks.
Ability to perform most mold repairs and maintenance without supervision.
Ability to perform jeweler's cut into silicone block molds.
Understanding of Ability to cast into different the full range of mold making techniques with minimal supervision, including resin and glass, stone, RTV, box, and layup mold making.
Ability to cast materials into different types of production molds. Procedural knowledge of casting most of the commonly produced parts out of silicone and/or urethane.
Remove parts from molds after materials catalyze, and perform any specific cleaning, trimming, or tooling as required. Ability to accomplish this with the majority of parts produced within the department.
Organize and maintain workspace, tools and equipment used to perform duties.
Maintain logs and documentation used to track production runs.
Re-order supplies as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High School degree or equivalent required.
At least two years of experience working in mold making and casting technologies, or at least two years of previous experience working as a Silicone and Urethane Caster with TraumaFX.
Ability to use artist tools, and small hand and power tools, e.g. brushes, sculpting tools, Dremels, pneumatic grinders and shapers, etc.
Good hand/eye coordination.
Strict attention to detail.
Proficiency in basic woodworking skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, and accept feedback.
Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
Ability to lift at least 40 Lbs.

Read & interpret tooling blue prints, including geometric tolerance notations

Performs technical injection mold making assignments to support the manufacture of molded parts in our Molding Shop.

The Mold Maker is responsible for building, revising and maintaining Entegris and Customer owned molds, tooling, and fixtures by performing machining and mechanical processes, methods and techniques. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Sets up and operate tool room machinery to perform complex work of high accuracy and finish meeting close dimensions and specifications.

The individual will check part and mold drawings to ensure that the mold is set-up for the planned part number. Responsible for identification and correction of tool die related problems
Maintain up-to-date with technology throughout the department
Perform inspections of molds and sample parts, for new and existing molds
Examine defective parts or molds to determine cause of defect and repair or maintenance of molds
Builds or modifies assembly fixtures or assembly assist tools
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
