MOLD MAKER - Seeking skilled journeyman mold maker to repair and maintain all molds/tooling and build spare parts for production and maintenance. This is a full-time, direct-hire, 1st shift opportunity. Build and repair all types, sizes, and shapes of rubber injection molds with the ability to assemble and test complex tools and molds in the production phase. As a Mold Maker, you will be responsible for utilizing all mold shop tools/equipment and interpreting 2D/3D drawings for the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and engineering changes on company injection molds and mold parts. You will work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and improve mold performance, as well as maintain and perform periodic maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, optimize, and modify highly engineered, premium quality injection molds
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling problems on the production floor.
Identify and implement tooling improvements
Operate equipment including, but not limited to: welding, manual lathes and mills, surface grinders, and bench tools.
Designs, builds, and maintains fixtures, gauges, and special tooling including End of Arm tooling.
Performs layout, construction, and diagnosis of injection molding tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machine parts
Works with manufacturing engineer to implement and debug new tools
Studies/reads/interprets specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions or from the actual part to be copied or fitted, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
Cleans, repairs, and sets up injection molding tools
Maintains equipment in work area in a clean and orderly condition
Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts, and verify conformance of machined parts to specification.
Lifts/moves machined parts to position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances
Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools, and draws or sketches design of product
Planning and setting up of various shop tools, taking into consideration the type of material, tolerances, and machine tool feeds and speeds
Uses precision measuring tools and gauges to perform inspections on molds
Fitting and assembling of mold parts, tools, and dies
Setting up run off and testing molds to product a product meeting specifications and making any necessary modifications
Break-down, clean, and reassemble molds as part of a periodic maintenance plan
Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments
Ability to use standard hand tools, precision measuring tools and gauges, cranes, boring machines, and other typical mold making equipment. These include, but are not limited to, manual mills, lathes, surface/cylindrical grinders, and honing machines
