From part or mold prints, the Mold Maker II manages construction of plastic injection molds for production and R & D needs.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:
1.Provides some conceptual layout of injection molds.
2.Generates mold drawings and updates.
3.Suggests possible improvements or alternate methods of achieving a solid design to design engineers.
4.Constructs molds using tool room resources.
5.Reports tooling progress thru Microsoft Projects.
6.Works on large multiple tooling projects as needed.
7.Contacts individuals outside of the organization for specific information and services as needed.
8.Performs Quality Control on own work and work received from others.
9.Provide guidance to junior level Mold Makers and Machinists as needed.
10. Maintains assigned equipment and work areas.

As a member of our Tool Room team, you will be responsible for manufacturing molds and tooling used in Injection Molding, Overmolding and other Departments within the company. You will work closely with your Tool Room Associates, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers and Mold and the Tooling Designer.
This role will also provide technical support to help troubleshoot and solve problems the Injection Molding Department impacting tools, safety relative to Molding and Overmolding technologies.
Your primary activity will be as follow:
Support the manufacturing of "New" Plastic Injection Molds and related items.
Incorporate Engineering changes and repairs on existing molds and tooling.
Work with Injection Molding on set-up and sampling of Tooling manufactured or repaired to qualify the mold for production.
Work closely with fellow Tool Room Associates and share your experiences and knowledge with them to further everyone's abilities.
Leadership responsibilities include:
Performing your Mold Making duties within a Team Environment, working closely and mentoring others when needed.
Working as a Project Leader on various projects when needed from inception to completion, including assigning and instructing fellow Associates that are assigned to the project.
Exhibit a strong manufacturing ethic while working closely with Engineering and the Manufacturing Engineering groups.
Communicate closely with all areas of operations and personnel from all Departments.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7-10 years Technical experience in the manufacturing of plastic injection molds and tooling for various applications.
Familiarity with the Injection Molding Process.
The knowledge and abilities to set-up and operate the following machines and equipment:
Manual Vertical Milling machines
Manual and Automatic Surface Grinders
Cut-off and Band Saws
Drill Presses and Bench Grinders
Manual EDM machines
Measuring Equipment, Height Gages, Comparators and misc. hand tools.
CNC Wire EDM machines
CNC EDM Sinker Machines
Hole Popper machine
Knowledgeable in Additional Skills & Experience:
CNC Lathe experience
CNC Milling Machine experience (5 Axis)
MasterCam Programming experience

Senior Mold Maker
Job Description: Summary
Working independently and with minimal supervision, the Senior Mold Maker sets up and operates all types of mold fabricating equipment. Reads and interprets mold drawings. Constructs, alters and repairs molds and components of extremely complex design. Disassembles, cleans, repairs and reassembles injection molds and compression molds.
Disassembles molds utilizing methods that prevent risk of damage to components and component finishes.
Cleans mold plates and all components. Determines mold components requiring repair or replacement. Insures proper gating, venting and cooling of molds.
Polishes mold component finishes as required.
Constructs and repairs intricate molds and their components from detailed drawings and/or verbal communication.
Assembles molds and components ensuring proper fit, form and function.
Be able to repair / replace components as needed while mold is still in the press.
Be capable of disassemble / assemble of hot runner manifolds and rewire the manifold.
Be able to weld mold components and re-machine back to spec.
Under general supervision, must be able to diagnose and satisfactorily repair problem molds or components.
Assures continued tool service through maintaining mold component inventories and assessing mold operating conditions through inspection and measuring of molds.
Is familiar with and observes all safety and environmental procedures and QSR's. Takes an active participation role in safety initiatives and engagement.
Responsible for helping to keep Hoist inspected.
Actively teaches and mentors junior mold makers or mold room assistants to help improve overall mold shop capabilities and talent.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills with troubleshooting molds and leverages knowledge and learnings to peers and standard work documents.

The Mold Maker needs to be someone who can creatively think outside of the box to design and repair molds within the shop. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently to conduct the appropriate fixtures for each assigned mold. The company launches multiple types of products, this person must be able to work within a rapid paced environment and must be able to manage multiple projects at once.

As a Mold Maker at Caterpillar Inc., you will perform a variety of manual and/or machine functions related to Coremaking such as dipping, inspecting and assembling (3 or less) cores. You will also operate and/or lock out equipment to clean molding floor and reclaim or dispose of sand in basement levels.

With minimal supervision, efficiently manage all mold making techniques used in the Department. Ability to train and instruct others in many processes. Create complex and high-quality molds, and generate castings on a production timeline for product assembly. De-mold, clean-up and tool component castings from molds to prepare for assembly.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Familiarity with materials and compounds used in-house for generating molds and castings, as well as knowledge/experience with other materials (not used in-house) that might be beneficial to production.
Understanding and experience with gravity-feed molds so they inject and vent properly.
Ability to duplicate pre-existing 2-piece box and block molds, and create parting blocks.
Ability to perform most mold repairs and maintenance without supervision.
Ability to perform jeweler's cut into silicone block molds.
Understanding of Ability to cast into different the full range of mold making techniques with minimal supervision, including resin and glass, stone, RTV, box, and layup mold making.
Ability to cast materials into different types of production molds. Procedural knowledge of casting most of the commonly produced parts out of silicone and/or urethane.
Remove parts from molds after materials catalyze, and perform any specific cleaning, trimming, or tooling as required. Ability to accomplish this with the majority of parts produced within the department.
Organize and maintain workspace, tools and equipment used to perform duties.
Maintain logs and documentation used to track production runs.
Re-order supplies as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High School degree or equivalent required.
At least two years of experience working in mold making and casting technologies, or at least two years of previous experience working as a Silicone and Urethane Caster with TraumaFX.
Ability to use artist tools, and small hand and power tools, e.g. brushes, sculpting tools, Dremels, pneumatic grinders and shapers, etc.
Good hand/eye coordination.
Strict attention to detail.
Proficiency in basic woodworking skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for all projects, repairs and /or improvements on the line as well as any mold changes and maintaining preventative maintenance.
Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.
Improve the production equipment, utilities, efficiency and reliability.
Recommend, plan, repair, modify, and fabricate any necessary elements following a problem or a project, which may have an effect on the productivity.

Shift Maintenance will also have the systems room checks, Pressco checks, daily shop housekeeping and Video jet daily PM's to perform.

Ability to organize own work within the schedules in the most effective and economical way.
Able to conduct work in a manner that will bring credit to the incumbent, maintenance department and Amcor
Provincial/Industrial mechanic certification.
Knowledge in hydraulic and pneumatic

Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods of time. Breaks will be the only time you will have an opportunity to sit.
