Mold Maker, Junior Casting Technician
The Junior Casting Technician is responsible for the fabrication of plastic models to display and demonstrate medical implants. This process includes the creation of masters, molds, the casting of parts, the finishing of these parts and the installation of implants in the final construct. The individual will also be responsible for the maintenance of the equipment including scheduled maintenance and routine servicing. Additionally, this individual is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the casting area.
Produce master models to use in the production of silicone molds
Set up, pour and vent silicone molds
Prepare silicone molds for the casting process
Cast polyurethane resin into molds and de-mold finished parts
Perform sanding and polishing functions on clear polyurethane cast parts using hand and power equipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for moving products, components, baskets, tooling to areas following a specifically planned route.
Job Specific Duties:
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with company procedures, expectations and work instructions.

The Mold Setter will be responsible for changing molds (both installation and removal), changing materials, and ensuring machines are clean.
Duties and Responsibilities:

BD has a number of injection molding sites located worldwide. This site will be the Holdrege Nebraska plant. BD-Holdrege Factory includes all electric injection molding presses, automatic resin handling systems. The Mold Tooling Engineer will facilitate the fabrication of injection molding tools for plastic injection molding. This position will include vendor selection, conceptual design of tooling, selection of hot runner system, project management of tooling fabrication, and implementation of tooling into the manufacturing processes. It also ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Work with mold build vendors in the design of injection molding tools, to include pilot through high cavitation production, for plastic injection molding of high precision, tight tolerance plastic parts and design fixtures and jigs.
Oversee tooling projects from conception through production start-up.
Work with tooling suppliers on request for quotation, schedules, mold design reviews, hot runner system selection, mold factory acceptance test (FAT) and project implementation.
Willing to travel as required for Mold Builds, Mold Trials etc.
Review product designs and make recommendations on tooling projects to ensure they are designed for manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-savings.
Participate in tool design reviews and ensure they are conducted in accordance with the BD guidelines and adhere to the BD mold design and build standards.
Evaluate part design for manufacturability using Mold Flow Analysis to evaluate mold filling, mold cooling and warpage analysis, and in molded stress analysis. Work with mechanical engineering to optimize part design.
Oversee all record retention for tooling. This will include required follow-up on action items resulting from preliminary mold designs through production startups. This encompasses both internally designed and built tooling along with all sub-contracted work.
Monitor construction of injection molds.
Source tooling suppliers and interact with them on regular basis to ensure that services meet expectations.
Monitor project schedules with tooling suppliers and ensure that projects are completed on time and according to design requirements
Implement tooling modifications and improvements.
Work with reverse engineering principles and rapid prototype resources as needed.
Utilize basic understanding of dimensioning, tolerance and inspection practices.
Other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate and control all cost, delivery and quality objectives for the design, construction and validation of assigned injection mold projects.

To operate all types of mold machines within department and specialize in the operation of these machines to produce complex and/or heavy wax pattern, soluble and gating parts. Objective: To accurately prepare tooling dies for operation
Essential Job Functions:
A. Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; Changes, adds, removes multiple inserts to produce large, complex parts.
B. Adds chills and solubles per Technique Cards.
C.Works with part engineers and others to develop, test and introduce new and re-designed tooling, methods and techniques into the production process.
D.Determines molding sequence to meet production schedule, insure time and trained coverage for completion of mold and availability of necessary chills and solubles.
E.Removes, cleans and stores tooling after operation.
F.Performs minor repairs on tooling and machines as required.
2.Mold Machine Operation:
Objective:To operate complex molding machines accurately and efficiently using technique cards and established set-up procedures to maintain quality and dimensional integrity of the product.

Rigging skills to manage assembled molds and mold plates safely.
Assist Mold Makers as required.
Understanding of function and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Basic welding skills (micro welding.
Capable to work with minimal supervision towards specific goals and timelines.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Gain knowledge of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM).
Gain knowledge of CAD/CAM systems (Solidworks Camworks and Gibbs).
Gain knowledge of Hot runner systems.
Understand Machining Processes: Cutting tools, Work piece holding devices, Controls
Experience in reading and determining dimensions
