The Technician prepares molds for production runs, sets up molds on the injection molding machines, troubleshoots machine and process problems, coordinates tool repair and maintenance. The Equipment Preparer Lead is responsible for assisting the Animal Technician Supervisor in oversight of the quality of work in the cage wash facility. The Equipment Preparer Lead organizes the processing of the rodent facilities' soiled equipment and preparation of items for use. The Equipment Preparer Lead performs and provides direction for general custodial care for areas within the facility, oversees equipment maintenance, and assists with inventory assessment checks for caging supply.
The Equipment Preparer Lead is classified as essential personnel and, as such, is required to work with minimal amount of absences and during all Center closures except in the event of a major disaster when access to animal housing and use facilities is prohibited by governmental emergency personnel.
Oversees and prepares items for the equipment washers, including removal of soiled bedding, sorting of items into similar batches, soaking designated items and scrubbing items that are especially soiled
In conjunction with the Associate Supervisor, assign duties to preparation staff, set priorities, plan schedules, and insure sanitation and safety procedures are in compliance with established procedures
Train technician staff in policies and procedures
Identify improved methods of facility upkeep in regards to hygiene and efficiency of operations
Maintain open communication with the Associate Supervisor, notifying the Supervisor of any issues that need to be addressed
Delegate and/or participate in completing housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping and garbage removal
Maintain housekeeping, inventory and equipment records
Assist Supervisor in interviewing and selecting Animal Equipment Preparer applicants
Assist Supervisor in monitoring all facilities to ensure compliance with standards and update or compose new SOP's as needed
Help to coordinate work assignments and preparations for facilities inspections; lead tours of facilities as requested
Have a working knowledge of all PPE policies and procedures throughout the small animal vivarium
Ensure appropriate mixing and use of all cleaning solutions
Direct the operation of equipment washers, automatic water bottle filling systems and autoclaves
Perform environmental control tests to insure proper function. Review and maintain records of test results as indicated by the supervisor. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on all equipment maintained within or processed through the cage wash operation.
Ensure that clean equipment has been processed correctly and shows no sign of residual waste material or other types of contamination. Record and remove from service all equipment damaged or deemed inappropriate for use.
Organize the transfer of bagged animal carcasses to storage areas for pick-up
Formulate the water bottle filling station acidification solutions using proper concentration of hydrochloric acid stock material. Ensure that the proper PPE and safety precautions are used during this process.
Prepare the equipment allotment schedule, ensuring that the set up carts of clean animal caging and water bottles for the animal technicians is correct and ready for use
Participate in material management inventory control, notifying the supervisor or designated purchaser of items that need to be ordered
Provide input and work with the Associate Supervisor on employee evaluations
May participate in the transportation of animals or materials between facilities
Attend and participate in assigned training classes
Work weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts as assigned

Injection Mold Technician - 3Rd Shift
Operates assigned machine(s) with certification to run one basic machine center without assistance and complete OMP (operator maintenance program) for the machine(s).
3rd shift; Sunday through Thursday 10pm to 6am with a PAID 30 minute lunch. Some OT required. Pay is based on education and experience. Additional shift pay of $0.50 per hour on 3rd shift.

Develop optimum molding processes for manufacturing medical components. Provide recommendations and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Provide support and leadership in the development of in the injection molding processes and tools.

Perform OQ's & PQ's, documenting plastic parameters and run parameters

Recommend and improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
Work with design, manufacturing, production, engineers and tooling during the entire development cycle. Emphasis on new mold sampling prior to transfer to production.
Participate in Tool Design Reviews and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
Troubleshoot molding and manufacturing processes and material issues. Work with internal and external resources to resolve molding and manufacturing issues and implement long term solutions.
Research, develop and implement manufacturing process controls, machinery modifications and improvements.
Provide input on new or alternate materials for cost reduction or molding improvements.

Experience and Skills:
At least 1 to 4 years' experience in plastics processing and/or an Associate's degree in Plastics / Plastic Technology
Technical knowledge of plastic injection molding machines.
Basic understanding and experience implementing decoupled molding processes and scientific molding techniques.
Must have new mold sampling experience and experience with multi-cavity molds.
Silicone injection molding experience is a plus.
Technical skills in the various mold processes & methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.

Train on day shift, then move to overnight shift- 11pm-7am
Understand and follow all safety precautions for proper operation of machines and equipment used while performing their job responsibilities.
Pre-shift exercise / stretching activity performed before you can enter production area unless written doctor's release provided to Human Resources.
To operate molding presses to open or close molds for repairs. In doing repairs use Mag tray.
To troubleshoot basic problems in the molding process pertaining to the mold.
To assist Set-Up in setting and pulling molds.
Assist Bench person with repairs and help clean molds as needed.
Understand the importance of the Mold Check Progress Form and mold cleaning procedure checklist.
To clean and check molds.
Assist other Tool Room employees in their repair of molds or equipment. To water, air and electrical test molds before leaving the shop.
To Green-tag molds to ensure molds are production ready.
Notify Tooling Manager or Group Leader of molds that are damaged or in need of repairs.
Record on the Mold Maintenance File any maintenance completed on every mold. This will include the date, person doing the work, and what work was completed. The information should be specific and brief.
Notify Group Leader or Lead person of supplies needed for day-to-day operation of the Tool Room.
Keep the Tool Room clean.
Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the Tooling Manager or Group Leader.
To fully understand & utilize the established ISO & AIB procedures.
Complete inspections as required.

Our Pineville Plant is looking for a Mold Maker to join our Team! The successful candidate will be responsible of supporting the fittings production department. This activity is to be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product, production output, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals.
- Provide preventive maintenance of molds as required. Including assembling, disassembling, finishing, rust spraying, sprue brushing, water testing, checking or testing sensors on hydraulics, check ejector system, slides, switches, hydraulic cylinders and motors, cleaning molds, and lubrication.
- Create, inspect, test, maintain, repair and make modifications to tools and molds as required. Tasks may involve but are not limited to grinding, EDM, milling, drilling, polishing, engraving, turning, welding, replace, finishing, rust spraying, lubricating, cut and/or measure new ejector pins, and disassembling and assembling of molds
- Identify changeover parts. Remove, clean and store pieces not needed in proper location. Change cavities, cores, ejector pins and medallions.
- Inspect all parts received as listed, measure core sizes, water flow test, check hardness, check venting and ensure proper engraving.
- Conduct major mold repairs and simple repairs to press as required
- Work with Setup Technicians to complete required administrative details such as but not limited to recording notes and comments within the MES database.
- Ensure mold information is maintained, updated and documented.
- Communicate to management status updates of all work completed, in process or planned in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with Quality Control for any quality issues and Maintenance for any repairs or troubleshooting that is required.
- Make any tools and fixtures as required, Assist in training new Mold Technicians as required.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Plastics Manufacturing dedicated to Mold Making or Tool and Die
- State/Federal approved Journeyman’s Mold Maker Certificate required or pending certification
- Completion of high school education or equivalent minimum
- Must have the ability to read, write and do advanced mathematics- intermediate trigonometry
- Must be licensed to operate forklift truck, pallet truck and other material handling equipment
- Have an understanding of procedures and instructions as required by ANSI/ASQC A9002
- Successful candidate must complete a successful CTPAT background check
- Applied knowledge of CAM programs (SURFCAM) and CNC machining practices in a shop environment.
