What You'll Do:
As the Lead Mold Maker, you will repair, enhance, and perform preventative maintenance on Injection Molds, Stamping Dies, End of Arm Tools and components to ensure the injection molding production runs smoothly.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
Reviews the schedule and ensures the components and molds are production ready to meet the production schedule.
Enters purchase orders to replace components and supplies as needed.
Repairs and enhances molds to ensure the molds are available for production runs.
Performs day to day preventative maintenance as needed on the molds to keep production running smoothly at all times.
Leads and mentors tool room people to help problem-solve, train, and increase their skill set in working with the molds or doing changeovers for production.
Education: Mold Making Journeyman card preferred or an equivalent of education, apprenticeship, and/or experience.
Experience: 3-5+ years of progressive mold making/repair experience in a large, fast-paced injection molding environment preferred (must be highly skilled to work independently).
Skilled in mold repair and safely operating the tool room equipment (lathes, grinders, mills, EDM's etc), to perform work successfully. Experience in metrology and measuring tools (US & Metric), and the ability to read blueprints is important. Must have excellent math skills and be able to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects to meet production needs. Foundational understanding of Quality Systems, Safety, Lean Thinking and 5S would be strong plus.
Technical Aptitude/PC/Other: Good at Microsoft Word/Excel to correspond well with vendors, manager, and team members. Familiar with ERP systems for reviewing and entering data would be helpful.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Leadership/Behaviors: Excellent mentoring/leading skills to help develop the department. Strong work ethic and a sense of urgency is key in this role. This person will be able to take initiative, is forward-thinking, and is able to problem-solve and get things done effectively and in a timely mater.

Structural & Sheet Metal Engineer
Summary of the position:
The Structure & Sheet Metal Engineer is an essential part of the New Product Development Engineering group and the success of Sullair products. This role, located in Michigan City, IN is responsible for the design of structural and sheet metal components and conducting FEA analysis for all new stationary and portable compressor products. The successful candidate must be a self-driven strong communicator with a solid technical and fabrication background able to work on multiple programs within a cross-functional team.
Duties and responsibilities:
Accountable for the design, FEA, and development of structural components and sheet metal panels/enclosures in new and existing Sullair products for consistent application of innovative design solutions to meet program timing, requirements, and deliver best in class products.
Utilize FEA analysis of structural and sheet metal components and apply results to improve designs for manufacturability, assembly, cost and performance.
Responsible for concept designs, concept sheets, design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, DVP&R, risk assessments, and maintaining design guidelines/best practices.
Support concept sheet and design reviews for frame and enclosure sub-systems to ensure design requirements, cost targets, manufacturing requirements, and quality targets are met.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure program deliverables, target costs, and timing are met and properly documented while also working with external supply base to optimize designs for manufacturing, assembly, quality, and cost.
Provide support and guidance to influence technical direction within programs and continue to develop expertise and proficiency in areas critical to success in this role.
Support the development and improvement of standard work processes, best practices, and design guidelines within the structure and enclosure sub-systems.
Create test plans and assist with validation testing to confirm that functional requirements are met.
Participate in prototype builds, product validation and field testing.
Provide direction to designers and updates to Program Manager.
Operate as a Subject Matter Expert and provide hands-on technical leadership.
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (required).
Advanced Degree is a plus (MSME/MBA).
A minimum of 3 years' experience in product design.
Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, forming, stamping, and manufacturing.
Proficient in Siemens NX, NX Sheet Metal Module, and Teamcenter (PLM) is preferred.
Strong working knowledge of FEA (ANSYS) tools and ability to interpret results for design optimization.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural/sheet metal design for a global manufacturer in the compressor or industrial machinery industries. (ISO, SAE, ANSI/AWS A2.4 & D1.1, ASME Y14.5, CSA, CE, DOT).
Design experience with trailers and axles is a plus.
Ability to anticipate potential problems and proactively take preventative action.

Assists in performing regular maintenance activities on production molds as directed to support the department in achieving departmental goals and production schedules.

The Sheet Metal Fabricator position is responsible for assembling finished product according to customer specification sheet and company policies using sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners, and complete components having medium to heavy parts on the floor and fixtures.
