Summary of Position with General
This position is primarily responsible for fabrication of class 101, 102, 103, and 104 injection molds which address production volumes from 100k to over 1 million cycles. The highest levels of accuracy, precision, quality, workmanship, and attention to detail all apply to the mold making position.
Other duties include developing prototype and production gauge and mold tooling concepts, making tool material and heat treatment recommendations, providing gauge and mold design for manufacture and assembly recommendations, and performing final mold tooling assembly and evaluation. Technician, Injection Mold
The Injection Mold Technician is responsible for the set up and break down of Injection Molding and Auxiliary equipment. Assurance of the quality of parts being molded, tryouts of new and modified molds, machine maintenance, regrinding of sprues and runners and scrapping of contaminated parts/materials, in an ISO 9001-2000 teaming environment. This position works under moderate supervision.
Molding production parts to meet work cell requirements per shop orders or kanban system. This includes the ability to mold quality parts in numerous thermoplastic materials such as ABS, Polycarbonate, PEI and thermoplastic elastomers.
Performing molding machine repair and maintenance per quality system requirements.
Assuring that the quality of the parts being molded meet part specifications including part drawing, and cosmetic specification.
Setting up and tearing down of molds per quality system requirements. Setting up, drying and tearing down of raw materials per quality system requirements to meet work cell requirements and material specifications. This includes continuous process improvement activities to improve set up methods.
Complying with approved procedures for the injection molding area. This includes making inputs to improve procedures as part of our continuous process improvement activities.
Follow all safety requirements and ensure all safety devises in mold room are operational. Shut down, lock out equipment and inform supervisor if safety device is found defective.

Utilizes CAD, One Space Design (OSD) or NX software for designing injection molds.
Supplies complete tool designs, including 2-D prints.
Interacts with the customers from initial design concept through design acceptance.
Manages and maintains strict timeline adherence as set forth by the schedule.
Interacts with Business Development, Customers, internal Quality functions, Process Engi-neers and tool manufacturing to help alleviate undesirable conditions.
Understands and applies mold flow as necessary to achieve positive results.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
A wide degree to creativity and latitude is expected.
May lead a project or task group in collaboration with other Tool Designers, Programmers, Engineers and staff from other disciplines.
Performs duties and responsibilities of Molding/Stamping Technicians in their absence.
Coordinates worker activities in absence of Supervisor.
Assists with the coordination of 6S inspections to ensure areas are safe and clean.
May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects. Qualifications
Requires education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a technical field and 2-5 years mold design experience or 8-12 years experience. Must be familiar with a wide variety of molding concepts, practices, and procedures.
Requires injection mold design experience with the ability to utilize Auto Desk Mold Flow, and NX a plus.
Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to TMD success.
May have to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs.
This position is responsible for providing support in the areas of press cleaning, materials movement to production operators and material preparation and blending to meet production needs.
Ensures all areas have the required materials in a timely manner to promote an efficient operation.
Performs color changes on machines.
Monitors material and blend changes.
Assists in mold cleaning.
Responsible for proper containment and disposal of grease, oil, and contaminated closures.
Maintain cleanliness of assigned presses and auxiliary equipment to prevent product contamination.
Responsible for material preparation and material blending.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear ensuring a safe work environment.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Prior Injection molding experience preferred
Attention to detail
Ability to read operating schedules and follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to manually handle/maneuver up to 200 pounds with the use of assistive devices.
