Job Location: Middletown, CT
Work under general direction of the Quality Supervisor with minimum supervision. Perform dimensional and visual inspection of complex in-process and completed machines, cast, molded and fabricated parts.
Frequently work to tolerances of .0001 or more, using complex inspection equipment and other such items as tool maker's microscope, coordinate measuring machine, rotary table, sine plate, micro-hardness tester and red liner gear checker, curve tracers, oscilloscopes, etc. Interpret and inspect to engineering drawings, specifications and other approved work documents for such characteristics as functional testing as dimensional configuration, hardness, surface roughness, visual appearance and completion of required operations; records inspection results and completes required paperwork.
Record inspection results and complete required documentation. May occasionally be required to inspect templates, jigs, fixtures and gauges. Report discrepancies or conditions that would result in defective products.
Coordinate with product and quality assurance engineers to communicate and explain non-conforming conditions and obtain necessary corrective action; may work with customer inspector during concurrent inspections. May be required to plot measurements on control charts and histograms.
Interpret and use company/customer specified sampling plans. Assist in formulating and reporting recommendations for correction of process to eliminate or reduce percentage of defects.
Instruct and guide lower level inspection personnel as required. Maintains certification documents control.
Provide input to improve the material/fabrication incoming-to-line process. May be required to participate in improvement activities.

Provides company oversight and control of aircraft parts and components as received, ensuring their authenticity, serviceability, and airworthiness.

Inspects aircraft parts and materials to ensure compliance with 14 CFR Federal Aviation Regulations and Company policies.
Provides guidance and instruction to Material Services to ensure parts are handled, stored and protected in accordance with Company policies and procedures, bust industry practices and Federal Aviation Regulations.
Works with Material Service to ensure parts are handled and stored properly.
Coordinates with Material Specialists to address part receipt issues.
Files and tracks calibrated tooling and certification.
Assists in sending repairs out for repair
Performs Dimensional inspections.
Sets tasks in RAMCO when next part inspection is due.
Maintains a clean, safe working environment throughout the work shift.
Submits in writing any suggested changes in operational procedures that will enhance safety and cost effective aircraft maintenance.
Adheres to established work schedule. Participates in shift meetings and briefings as required.
Updates Supervisor on progress of work performed. Reviews paperwork at the end of shift to ensure that all work accomplished is signed for prior to departing the maintenance facility. Assists with completion of shift turnover reports in accordance with procedures in the GMM.
Completes all department internal company forms, maintenance records, documents, work orders, etc. including performing maintenance computer system transactions as required.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year related experience.

Description: Inspect end caps, backing rings and wear rings for conformity to the customer and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) specifications, using measuring instruments.
Determine if there are any defects on the product such as cracks, water etching or nicks and, whether or not the product is repairable. Reject or re-grade products not meeting specifications, marking out product areas of defect with chalk or paint. Input information, into computer terminal, covering materials scrapped or salvaged.
