The Thermoform Team Lead is responsible for the efficient safe operation of machines, work environment, employee morale and meeting all KPI goals of the Thermoforming department.

This position is primarily responsible for setting up, including changing dies, and operating French presses to mold products from fiberglass materials. Additionally, these positions are responsible for inspecting, sanding, and buffing excess material from the hats, along with operating a riveting machine to apply rivets to various shells. These positions are also responsible for cutting raw material that is used within the process, and occasionally processing/milling, and molding rubber. Adherence to safety, housekeeping and quality standards as they relate to the production and the company's objective is required. In addition, these positions are responsible for maintaining production goals through productivity targets and cost containment by eliminating waste.
Operates French presses including loading raw material on the mold and unloading of molded parts
Saws and grinds excess material from hats using band saws and surface grinders
Uses rivet machine to apply rivets to various shells
Performs set-ups and adjustment on the machines, including die changes using power, air and hand tools

Communicate with supervisor, mullor operator, melt, maintenance, or other departments regarding any problems affecting mold quality, production or safety.
Make minor adjustments or repairs to the machine and assist maintenance in other repairs as necessary.
Record production, delay, scrap, broken mold, broken core, or other information in appropriate log or database.

Assure that DSM products are of consistent and high quality by coordinating production flow on the floor, providing guidance to operators, assigning tasks, performing ERP system transactions, and assisting in the training of personnel assigned to the Molding Department.
Execute molding schedule for both production and developmental work.

Suggest necessary changes to polymer processing procedures as required.
Assist engineers with protocol, DOE, and product validation runs.
Set-up and trouble shoot new molds, extruding runs, and R&D processes.
Support training of new employees in procedures, safety, GMP's, etc.
Interact with and support needs for QA/QC Laboratory, Engineering Laboratory, Toolroom, etc.
Recommend changes in processing and handling of polymer processes to improve quality and efficiency within established GMP/DSM guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Leader, Polymer Production Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
Perform preventative maintenance and minor machine repair as required.
The individual must maintain an organized work flow and ensure appropriate system and / or data transactions are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Injection Molders must maintain flexibility to respond to ever-changing priorities. Requirements of this position should include computer literacy, basic math skills, and mechanical aptitude, capable of working with small parts, manual dexterity, and appropriate hand-eye coordination with visual acuity skills required.
Because the end use of the product affects patient safety, there is a need to be knowledgeable in the quality system requirements and be reasonably well-versed in technical aspects of the process. Good judgment and decision making is imperative.

SUMMARY: Operates a range of manufacturing equipment for the production of rubber molded sealing products within assigned team.
Inspects parts for conformance with quality criteria. This position is the entry level for the Rubber Molder job family.
