Paper Machine Tender
Clearwater Paper Corporation in Shelby NC has exciting career opportunities for experienced machine operators to support paper machine operations. Successful candidates will have a minimum of one (1) year of industrial manufacturing experience with machine operation, High School diploma or GED, and knowledge of mechanical processes. This position will work 12 hour shifts, rotating with 2 days on, 2 nights on and 4 days off. The work week rolls forward each week. This position includes the need to work OT when necessary.

Works directly with other team members in new and existing process validation, documentation, and implementation. Assists engineers in prototyping, specialty builds, testing, validating, and implementing new materials, designs and process improvements. Records data when necessary. May assist in the design of fixtures.
Responsible for proper handling of waste and accurately documenting supportive data relative to waste.
Conducts preventive maintenance in area of responsibility including but not limited to cleaning and inspection on all components of equipment in a safe manner.

Plastic Machine Operator - Injection Molding
Set up, operate, or tend metal or plastic molding, casting, or coremaking machines to mold or cast metal or thermoplastic parts or products.
Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
Measure and visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Position and secure workpieces on machines, and start feeding mechanisms.
Turn valves and dials of machines to regulate pressure, temperature, and speed and feed rates, and to set cycle times.
Perform maintenance work such as cleaning and oiling machines.
Trim excess material from parts, using knives, and grind scrap plastic into powder for reuse.
Observe meters and gauges to verify and record temperatures, pressures, and press-cycle times.
Read specifications, blueprints, and work orders to determine setups, temperatures, and time settings required to mold, form, or cast plastic materials, as well as to plan production sequences.

Obtain and move specified patterns to work stations, manually or using hoists, and secure patterns to machines, using wrenches.
Spray, smoke, or coat molds with compounds to lubricate or insulate molds, using acetylene torches or sprayers.
Connect water hoses to cooling systems of dies, using hand tools.
Maintain inventories of materials.
Operate hoists to position dies or patterns on foundry floors.
Preheat tools, dies, plastic materials, or patterns, using blowtorches or other equipment.
Smooth and clean inner surfaces of molds, using brushes, scrapers, air hoses, or grinding wheels, and fill imperfections with refractory material.

Our Manhattan, Montana facility is seeking a Machine Set Up Tech 3 to add to our team. The Machine Set Up Tech 3 is responsible for but not limited to: Technician must possess excellent knowledge of injection molding process, materials, molds and machinery. Technician must maintain molding schedules; evaluate parts based on quality standards and specifications, and assist machine operators as needed. Technician will assist material handler with start and setup procedures. This position supports 32 IMM's with a drive for 90% uptime along with 2 other machine set up technicians of varying experience. This position is a direct supporter/contributor to the success of the Operations Manager and any/all delegated work is expected to positively promote the Blackhawk brand.
Including but not limited to the following
Verify correct set-up of molds, presses, and auxiliary equipment before machine start up.
Establish proper molding conditions.
Perform mold changes and sampling runs according to molding schedule.

Responsibilities may include:
Machine Setups that involve changing of molds, setting a variety of limit switches to achieve proper mold height, stroke, closing, etc.

Perform all automation/robot repairs, PM's and maintenance as needed. Work daily troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
General and specific knowledge of PLC's, HMI's, servos, drives, PC troubleshooting and mechanical troubleshooting strongly preferred. The ideal candidate would have a strong work ethic, background fixing electromechanical systems, and be flexible with overtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Keep automation operational. General shop floor support for automation equipment, once training is complete
Support production floor by answering emergency equipment down requests
Assist in rebuilding equipment as time allows, during periods of extended, planned downtime
Preventative maintenance on all automation equipment and clean automation equipment
Complete Lockout Tagout training (on-site after hire date)
Understands Importance of food safety, ISO and plant safety policies and is acting example to other employees after being properly trained

Electrical certifications, trainings and proof of experience is strongly preferred
Experience with PLC's, HMI's, servos, drives, PC troubleshooting and mechanical troubleshooting strongly preferred. The ideal candidate must be able to use Windows based computer interfaces and make observations of the equipment performance and make adjustments with the interface.
All of our systems are driven by computers and HMI's. This candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments on a daily basis, after training is complete. Experience with vision systems strongly preferred
Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical prints, understand components and systems required
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals
The physical demands are not extensive for this position. Employee will be required to perform all functions carefully and to negotiate slippery surfaces and be aware of potential hazards.
This is typical of a shop floor environment. Good self-awareness of surroundings is a must for this position.
The work environment is typical of a shop manufacturing floor. Personal protection (ear plugs, steel toe shoes, hard hats and safety glasses) are required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, electricity in various forms, using lifting devices, exposure to heights of 15-20' with safety harness, and stored energy (pneumatics, hydraulics, springs, ect).
