The successful candidate will work part-time, 2 to 3 days per week, at our health campus.

Mortuary Surg Path Assistant
More complex processing of specimens received in various Labs, some section lead responsibilities. Prepares for and assists in special procedures.
Responsible for assisting the pathologist or resident in autopsies. Performs equipment maintenance and quality control following standard operating procedures. Trained and responsible for handling hazardous chemicals.
May fill in for LA II. Also, some duties are unique to each lab.
Processing specimens: As appropriate for each lab, this includes hand staining, gram staining (micro set ups), inoculating specimens, aliquot chemicals, reagents and solutions, setting up some cultures, accessioning, receiving, processing, pouring over, distributing, storing, disposing of specimens. Maintaining gross area and stock for PA and resident staff.
Assisting in specialized specimen collection processes and bedside testing, such as fine needle aspirations or kidney biopsy
Communicates with healthcare personnel outside of department with regard to reports, clarification of requests, other problems related to specimens, requests, and testing delays.
Specimen retrieval, accessioning, and scanning documents in to LIS.
Assists pathologists and residents with autopsy procedures as dictated on consent form. Responsible for set up and cleanup for autopsies.
Verifies autopsy requisitions and charts to make certain all signatures and paperwork are secured prior to procedure. Accession all cases into multiple LIS, scans paperwork, and retrieves tissue cassettes for staff. Prepares body for transport, disposes of stored specimens.
Education / Training: High school diploma or equivalent required, with college level anatomy course and medical terminology. Associates degree or related certificate preferred
Work Experience: Computer / keyboard skills.
Familiarity with Medical Terminology and medical processes. Experience as Lab Assistant II. Excellent communication skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Prepares hair arrangement and cosmetics for deceased in accordance with families instructions. Restores deceased to a life-like appearance as closely as possible.
Manicures fingernails using files and nail polish.
Performs grooming tasks such as arching and plucking eyebrows and removing facial hair.
Washes and dries bodies, using germicidal soap, as required.
Maintains hygiene and cleanliness of equipment (i.e., brushes, dryers, rollers etc.) and area where duties are performed.
Records personal effects delivered with body and information about deceased, as required
Shampoos, waves, presses, curls, brushes hair following photography of deceased and/or description obtained from client family.
Assists embalmer in restoring disfigured or maimed deceased person(s), as required
Engages in and supports company initiatives
Stays current with Dignity University courses.
May assist with or may perform the function of dressing and placing deceased in casket, as required
May be required to provide all equipment including but not limited to hair dryers, cosmetics, hair products, flat irons, dyes, combs, and brushes.
Performs other duties as directed by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of six (6) months Cosmetology experience
- Must hold state required Cosmetology license, where required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of physiognomy (the study of the muscles of the face), color scale, re-creative artistry, and chemistry – not required for Beautician Only
Previous customer service experience
