The Electrical Specialist will be responsible for the development of motors, generators and switchgear repair volume with existing and new customer base.
As the Electrical Specialist, you will:
Drive EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), productivity, cost reduction and quality initiatives with hourly workforce to meet / exceed customer CTQ-critical to quality
Provide technical interface between customer, sales force and in shop craft labor
Generate production data for quoting various repair work scopes as they apply to motors, generators and switchgear segments
Be responsible for the business health of the motors, generators and switchgear segments including increasing shop quality and process control implementation
Increase shop volume through customer site visits, networking and upgrade opportunities
Infuse new technology, leverage LEAN, Six Sigma to drive productivity, quality and safety
Develop junior craft and execute continued technical training for craft

Qualifications and Skills

- A proven track record of maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing, and repairing all various types and manufacturers of automatic transfer switches, paralleling systems, distribution, and utility gear.
- Education or experience in thermal dynamics and pressures as they relate to cooling and heating systems.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Assess and report urgency of all needed repairs as well as accurately identifying any and all defective parts to be ordered including part numbers, serial numbers and photos.

Motor Equipment Mechanic III
Performs the tasks of a journeyman mechanic technician in diagnosing the causes of malfunctions and in repairing and maintaining automotive and heavy construction equipment and attachments.
Repairs and maintains gas and diesel engines, generators, motors and other mechanical and electrical components of stationary and mobile power-driven equipment.
Diagnoses the cause of faulty mechanical performance on gasoline and diesel engines and estimates the extent of needed repairs on powered equipment such as passenger vehicles, light trucks, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment.
Performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance, repair, overhaul and adjustment of mechanical, structural, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic components of gasoline and diesel powered equipment with the use of appropriate test equipment and hand and power tools. Work to be performed in the depot garage or in the field includes such activities as : * Maintains, repairs and performs diagnostic functions on ignition systems, switches, generators, charging systems, air conditioning systems, starting motors and electrical systems on all types of motorized equipment.
Maintains, repairs, adjusts and replaces elements of chassis assembly including frames, springs, steering, dump bodies, brakes (air, mechanical and hydraulic) and hydraulic lifts, drives and controls; balances wheels; mounts, dismounts, services and repairs tires of all types and sizes on all types of equipment.

Position Title Power Production Generator Mechanic United States of America - Nevada Fallon
Purpose and Scope: Operate and maintain motor generators, power generators and back-up generators at remote locations and mountain tops throughout NAS Fallon Centroid Facilities & remote sites.
Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Maintain, repair, and service Power Generators at the unit, direct support and general support maintenance level. Perform daily preventative maintenance, including but not limited to, fueling, fluid checks, and overall functionality of power generating equipment at remote sites.
Perform direct support maintenance functions including replacing/overhauling major engine components, troubleshooting fuel, electrical or engine problems. Must be able to read electrical schematic and perform technical inspections. Additional responsibility for ordering and receiving service and replacement parts, coordinating generators and fuel tanks and inspecting and maintaining fuel tanks, and electrical wiring. Routine travel to remote site facilities by vehicle and/or occasional helicopter travel to remote mountain top peaks Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance to accepted practices.

Under general supervision, Assembles and tests electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors: Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations, using hammer and drift. Files burrs from core slots, using hand file, portable power file, and scraper. Lines slots with sheet insulation and inserts coils into slots. Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers. Twists leads together to connect coils. Taps coil and end windings to shape, using hammer and fiber block. Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester, and resistance bridge. Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators. May rewind defective coils.
1. Read and interpret schematics of electrical equipment and mechanical equipment.
2. Identify and utilize lubricants.
3. Identify and utilize cleaning materials and solvents used in maintenance of electrical equipment.

Hyundai/Ideal * GE * Must understand motor nomenclature, including Field Application, Rotor, Amortisseur windings, Alternator, Excitation Loss of Field, Field Discharge Resistor, Motor Speed with number of Poles, Motor Slip.
Must be able to test and evaluate components including SCRs, Diodes, Surge Suppressors, Field Discharge Resistor, Polarity of Poles, Slip Rings, Feeder Cables.
Experience with the EM Synch-rite Universal Tester a plus.
Must have experience with Synchronous Motor Controls including Drives as it relates to Synchronous Motor operation, Solid State Control systems, Diode Wheel components and operation.
Needs to be able to operate basic instruments including Voltmeter, Ammeter, Insulation Tester and output voltage, and VOM.
Able to work safely with Lock out/Tag Out, grounding, must attend ESQEW (Electrical Safety for Qualified Workers) training.
Must be able to acquire a US Passport and TWIC card.
Travel is required.
Winding experience is a plus. Additional

CEC Motor & Utility Services located in Palmetto Florida (South of Tampa Bay) is looking for full time Electric Motor and Generator Mechanic. The ideal candidate should have three to five years of experience dismantling, balancing, testing, troubleshooting electric motors and generators both AC and DC. This person should be familiar with Surge Testing, Hipot Testing, use of Megger, drop voltage tests, AC/DC Theory, and AC and DC Electric Motor Connections. Proper filing of paperwork is required. We are a growing company and need to add to existing work force qualified and skilled personnel. Experience dismantling and assembling submersible and centrifugal pumps is a plus. Our 20,000S.F. fully air-conditioned motor/pump repair facility is equipped with state of the art equipment necessary to perform motor and pump repairs.
