GRADE 12 ## LOCATION OF POSITION Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville, MD ## Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to organize, implement and provide Music Therapy and other activity therapy services to adult psychiatric inpatients; function as a member of a treatment team; maintain patient records.
Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music therapy from an accredited college or university.
Notes: 1. Current certification as a Music Therapist from the American Music Therapy Association or the Certification Board for Music Therapists may be substituted for the required education. 2.
Four years of experience as a professional music therapist, under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, licensed Physical Therapist or certified Activity Therapist, which included the responsibility for clients’ assessments and the planning, implementation and evaluation of clients’ music therapy treatment in a mental health or developmental disability setting may be substituted for the required education. Experience assisting in these responsibilities will not be accepted as qualifying experience. 3.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classification or Therapy specialty codes in the Music Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

We are seeking a full-time Board-Certified Music Therapist to join our team to provide group and individual music therapy in the Greater Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. Music Therapist: A Music Therapist provides music therapy services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Contractors must meet educational requirements to provide music therapy. To provide music therapy services, the clinician shall be certified by the National Association of Music Therapists.
Major Duties: The major duties of a music therapist include but are not limited to: developing a treatment plan for the individuals being served within the first 30 days of treatment (failure to meet these time frames will result in disciplinary action of the clinician), develop reports to document progress on at least a quarterly basis, attend IST meetings regarding the individuals being served, and act as part of an individualized support team where the needs of the consumer come first.
