The Micro Need Utility Operator under general supervision and in accordance with applicable specifications, polishes, inspects, and heat¬ treats micro and channel needles in various alloys. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. Does all other work, related in nature to assure efficient machine operation and maintenance of production schedule.
Be responsible for compliance to FDA/GMP/ISO/OSHA as it pertains to daily activities within Ethicon.
Follow all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary.
Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures. and instructions and enter production information in quality records.
Use test equipment (Starrett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope etc.) where applicable.
Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. JDE, ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV,etc.)
Be familiar with proper documentation practices and SOPs.
Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE's), if applicable.

Aluminum Press Operator / Straightener - Swings
Primary Function: Responsible for dimensional control and inspection of castings to meet external quality requirements.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Configures and operates the straightening presses and ovens.
Effectively uses straightening and inspection fixtures as required according to procedures.
Dimensionally inspects and controls castings using measurement and straightening tools per procedures
Troubleshoots straightening fixtures.
Maintains, stores, and verifies calibration of measurement tools.
Machines all test bars.
Performs heat treat/age temper on all parts.
Maintains lot integrity.
Ensures paperwork is properly done.

Machine Operator/ Composite Straightener Operator
Perform various required duties to set up and operate a Roll Mill, Bruderer Straightener and accessory equipment to straighten bi-metal coil stock and locate defective welds as well as loading, unloading and operating electric vacuum annealing furnaces following standard practices and procedures.
Check coil tags and material before annealing and again before straightening to assure proper information coil identity. Using overhead electric hoist, place racks of coils into floor level annealing furnaces. Input required data into programmed controller. Operation is automatic; furnace cycles and shuts off automatically. Monitor operation by means of temperature recording chart. Unload using overhead hoist and use Between loads, check furnace for broken elements, damaged seals, insulation, etc. Observe color and brightness of annealed stock.
Load coils of annealed stock to pay off reel and thread through rolling mill then through various guides, rollers, and wipers of Bruderer Straightener, through ultrasonic and laser inspection stations to take up reel. Select proper carbide spacers, guides and rollers. Make necessary adjustments to obtain required thickness and straightness. Adjust rollers to remove coil set and obtain desired camber. Adjust ultrasonic tester to set weld zone as directed. Cut large coils in half at take up reel.
Machine operates automatically and shuts off as defects pick up on sonic tester. View defect under microscope and mark spot with hand or hydraulic punch and grit blast. Cut large defects out with metal cutters if in excess of pre-established limits and form new coil. Cut sample strip of coil stock, use indicators and straight edge to check for straightness, bow, twist, etc. Maintain required production records indicating footage processed, type and number of defects. Enter and accumulate data in computer for production records and statistical quality control.
Loosen expandable chuck, tie coil with tie wire, remove from take up reel with electric hoist, place on skid with spacers and deliver skids to storage area. Monitor automatic operation of additional lines of straightening equipment during temporary absence of other operations.
Use chopper to dispose of scrap materials. Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain log. Change tester transducers as required and calibrate laser gauge as necessary.
Detect and report unsafe or defective equipment of materials, unusual situations to supervisor. Maintain area and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
Observe and obey all safety rules, regulations and practices.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.
Demanding, fast-paced position resulting from deadline pressures, simultaneous competing demands and changing priorities. Working is a team environment.

1.GENERAL SUMMARY (What does the position do?):
Responsible for straightening, grinding, welding, and otherwise bringing parts into spec. Also uses various dimensional tools, fixtures, and ultrasonic tools to determine the specs of a part, and make appropriate determinations as to the best way to bring the part into tolerance limits. Works closely with the salvage analyst, grinding, welding, and CMM.
2.MAJOR DUTIES (List duties in order of time spent on them, with the most first):
Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices.
Always consider safety before action.
Use dimensional tools (calipers, dyers, Ultrasonic, etc.) and fixtures to determine if a part is out of spec.
Use blueprints, tech cards, and other instructions to determine the specs and tolerances of a part.
Determine the best method to rework a part and bring it back into spec without causing damage.
Straighten, heat, bend, push, pull, and otherwise move the part back into tech card and blueprint tolerances.
Use pneumatic drills to target parts for machining to blueprint specs.
Follow written and verbal instruction and work as a team member.
Work and interact in a positive and professional manner with support departments, including engineering, quality, and other manufacturing areas.
Train Straightening Mechanic as needed.
Work outside department as required.
Develop rework plans with other departments.
Other duties as assigned.

Mechanics in this position set up, operate and adjust a variety of mechanical and hydraulic controlled straightening presses to form, straighten and flatten high quality close tolerance parts and materials.
Job Responsibilities include:
Employment in this position also requires handling, rotation of head/neck, standing, walking, twisting at the waist, lifting and carrying 10-35 pounds, lifting and carrying less than 10 pounds, pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds, pushing/pulling less than 10 pounds, pushing/pulling more than 35 pounds, finger manipulation, flexion/extension, contact with metals, exposure to noise, atmospheric conditions and energized sources, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm, ears and feet.
Obtain work package from, ready to work rack, as delivered to work station, or assigned by lead, supervisor, or run previously set-up job by reviewing tie-in from prior operator.
Review Work Order (W/O) to determine requirements of work to be performed.
Ensure that the correct type and quantity of parts/material were issued and that prior operations are complete.
Obtain and review appropriate drawings, Boeing (BAC) specifications and any other necessary documents to perform the job.
Use on-line information systems, as required.
Check machine set-up and/or parts completed by previous operator to determine progress on a job and ensure safe working conditions, as required.
Select machine accessories and holding devises (e.g., ram heads, riser stands, blocks, clamps, shims).
Verify that apparatus is in good condition. Identify shop aids and/or holding fixtures to be used, as required.
Attach machine accessories, tools, fixtures, and shop aids using bolts, wrenches and clamps.
Move parts/material to the work area using overhead cranes, as required.
Ensure spreader bar is safely attached for long parts/material.
Ask for assistance from co-workers as needed. Insert material to be formed/straightened, use manual power switch to operate press.
Check pressure gauge/travel indicator and make adjustments, as required.
Check parts to ensure that forming/straightening operations are completed within tolerances per drawing and BAC specifications, use check fixture, as required.
Clean and/or deburr parts, using hand file and/or denatured alcohol after forming/straightening operation, as required.
Contact lead, supervisor, or co-worker with questions, when assistance is needed or when any problem arises.
Handle and dispose of hazardous material in approved manner (e.g., solvents, rags).
Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.

Using overhead electric hoist, load coils of metal saw material onto feed table and position insert end of material through entry slot, between rollers, out exist opening and secure to reel on take up table. Assure proper positioning of limit switch and adjust nozzles to cover required area of blade surface. Close door and operate machine. Operation is automatic, and shuts off at end of coil. Visually inspect to assure that take up table is operating and entire blade is being cleaned. Tie processed rolls with tie wraps, retain coil identification with proper tag, remove from take up table and place in pile on skid. Maintain computer inventory by entering data.
Set up and operate multiple simple type printing units to print limited information on blades at pre-determined spacing. Install stamp, and adjust for blade height to position marking in center of blade add ink to reservoir, set guides and monitor operation. Inspect to assure proper marking, quality, etc. Clean printer.
Perform routine servicing and maintenance duties to machines. Use hand tools to replace worn or defective ceramic nozzles, sleeves, air jets, gun bodies, hoses, etc. Clean internal screen of debris, foreign objects, etc. Vacuum units and add grit material as required. Use grease gun to grease unit monthly. Cut lengths of wire from coil as required.
Maintain inventory of parts and necessary materials such as guns, nozzles, hoses, clamps, grit, etc. by requisitioning from supervisor.
Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials, as well as unusual situations.
Observe and obey all safety rules, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of charts, specifications, and micrometers
1-2 years experience preferred
Use of numbers including decimals
Light physical effort required, equivalent to lifting, pushing, pulling 5 to 25 pounds
Must be in current position for at least two years (exceptions under discretion of
Supervisor and HR department)
