JOB SUMMARY Performs various electro-mechanical assembly and test functions to assemble prototype products, build special machines and assemble standard machines.
Hands-on, industrial position working in a shop environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the quality of work and utilizes familiarity with inspection and other quality assurance techniques to inspect work.
Assembles all of Climax’s standard products.
Analyzes assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plans machine building operations.
Verifies conformance of parts to pick list and blueprints.
Performs assembly and test of mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
Aligns components for assembly and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together. Custom fits as necessary to conform to blueprints and/or customer specifications.
Performs various electro mechanical assembly functions such as soldering, assembly of cables and wiring harnesses, re-work of printed circuit boards, and other electrical assembly activities.
Works closely with engineering to test products (by hand or mechanically), diagnose, and resolve problems that occur during assembly and repair.
Removes high spots, and smoothes surfaces to improve product cosmetics.
Uses precision measuring tools to verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
Assembles, sets up, and operates machine to verify function, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer's specifications.
Follows the production schedule and associated work orders and sales orders to determine assembly requirements.
Searches for and recommends ways to improve assembly methods and procedures that could potentially lower productions costs and/or improve product quality/reliability.
Ability to operate material handling devices such as overhead cranes and forklifts.
Understands basic Lean principles; follows lean manufacturing systems; participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
Handles stress in a professional manner, demonstrates the ability to get along with others, demonstrates successful attendance and punctuality, and works overtime / extra hours as required to meet business needs.
May occasionally travel, primarily in the local area.
Other duties as required. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
AA degree and 2-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with mechanical assembly and associated tools; must have experience with wiring, soldering, crimping, and interconnects; experience with basic shop functions including pressing, fitting, proper torque of parts.
Basic knowledge of machining processes, welding processes and control panel wiring is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.
To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and/or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and/or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and/or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, ship yards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and/or applications support.
Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regards to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
