The Lead Nuclear and Fossil Steam Turbine Quality Engineer will lead all quality aspects of our nuclear engineered solutions and upgrade projects. In this role, you will also work to develop quality process improvements and provide guidance to customers regarding nuclear quality on complex engineering controls projects throughout the world. You will provide feedback to customers, engineers, product developers, and designers to improve product quality and effectiveness.
In the role of Lead Nuclear & Fossil Steam Turbine Quality Engineer, you will:
Provide Nuclear project QA / QC leadership to engineering in support of retrofitting control systems for steam turbines, under the overall management responsibility of the Project Manager
Review contract documentation for QA / QC codes and standards impact
Review QA / QC codes and standards and respond to customer specifications. Provide support to commercial / sales organization to interpret requirements and define responses in proposals and Tables of Compliance
Ensure project compliance with Nuclear regulations for U.S.A, Canada, and other countries internationally
Provide mentoring, direction and leadership to junior team members
Support design reviews of projects and insure updates and archival of all required documentation
Support customer meetings, factory acceptance testing, installations, and commissionings of control systems as the QA/QC lead
Work closely with design engineering teams to ensure efficient and compliant control system designs
Apply QC standards including NRC, CR, vendor NC, MOC, and other QC as the projects' quality plans require
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in QA / QC experience in the nuclear industry
Travel up to 50% of the time domestic and international, as required
Familiarity with GE and non-GE turbines and control systems
Experience in interfacing with all levels of GE internal and external customers (GE employees only)
Power plant, refinery, or other related experience
BWR or PWR nuclear power plant experience
Knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical control systems for steam turbines
Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a matrix management environment
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving ability and adept at communicating with several levels of the organization
Strong influence, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Strong process discipline with sound analytical and statistical skills
Strong customer service mind-set
Electrical Inspector Certified
Mechanical Inspector Certified
Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
Proficient in the use of PC software applications
Good oral and written communication skills
Motivated, self-starter, results oriented
Proven team player with solid cooperation, flexibility and mentoring traits
Root Cause Analysis experience
Knowledgeable of COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) requirements as related to designs implemented within U.S. Nuclear plants
Experience leading Project Quality Engineering for large projects
