Quad/Graphics is currently seeking an Offset 1st Press Operator for the Nashville, TN. The Press Operator has overall accountability for the web offset press. The Press Operator is a leadership role responsible for directing the work of the press crew and providing coaching, supervision and training to the press crew. The Press Operator plays an essential role in helping Quad/Graphics reduce the cost of errors and achieve client satisfaction.
Responsible for the overall safety of the entire press crew. Including but not limited to: Following lock out tag out procedures, maintaining proper placement of machine guards, ensuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is properly worn, following and enforcing Quad/Graphics Safety rules, performs and/or oversees all tasks associated with operating the press equipment in support of the production goals related to safety, setup, line speed, waste, web breaks and down time.
Inspects printed quality of jobs including folds, cleanliness, color and registration.
Ensures that the press is re-webbed correctly, safely and accurately.
Serves as the leader for assigned equipment and crew and directs the work of crew members
Supports the Pressroom Supervisor by providing instruction, training and guidance to crew members.
Follow all safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from press crew.
Participate in accident investigations if crew members become injured.
Able to lift and move 50 pounds or more repeatedly

How you would contribute to the role:
In this role, you will monitor and coordinate the operations of an offset printing press. This will include the set-up of the press, securing plates, ink and stock specified on job ticket.
You will also position and register plates, adjust color and feeding/receiving mechanisms. You will mix ink to specified Lab color standards. In addition, you will assist in troubleshooting, maintaining and making minor repairs to equipment, and working closely with your team to meet customer demands. Your mechanical and troubleshooting skills, along with your focus on quality will be highly valued in this role.
What skills and background will be important to be successful:
High School diploma, with two years of experience with an offset press.
Willingness to flow to the work and be trained in all aspects of offset printing workflow.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
