Maintenance General Foreman - Mechanical / Pipe
The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and direct the performance of all construction craftsmen activities for assigned craft areas in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. The position requires a thorough working knowledge and background of assigned work, the ability to appreciate and resolve situations with little assistance, and see actions as a series of steps. With command, this position directs other line supervision, typically one or many foremen, as necessary in their roles to meet or exceed all project objectives. This position requires the ability to coordinate and direct construction craftsmen in numerous crafts within the assigned area of responsibility. This position is well-versed in the duties of a Foreman, typically having worked up through the craftsman levels through Foreman level to the General Foreman level.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise craft employees, through assigned foremen ensuring that scheduled tasks are done in a safe and timely manner.
Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed. Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety and Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
Plan the construction effort; which includes, ensuring that manpower, materials and equipment are efficiently utilized, and supervise work in conjunction with foremen throughout the day. Review Foremen's time sheets and make corrections if necessary before submitting.
Maintain detailed knowledge of the work areas and perform regular inspections of the work/task areas to limit any conflicts. Effectively communicate any changes to the scope as required.
Meet expectations for assigned work and delegate to the foremen the responsibilities for maintaining the quality of work, and maintain a motivated work crew through effective employee relations and strong leadership, also moderate any employee work related issues that arise.
This position is for a long term maintenance contract in north Houston without per diem.
Plan, lay-out and perform all types of pipe welding, connecting and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.
Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information is available for the work.
Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
Inspect subordinates work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take any necessary corrective action.
Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.

Minimum Job Requirements
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level III) and six plus years (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the pipefitter trade.
Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.

Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding.

May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch and hand tools.
Operates cutting equipment including torches and various power and hand tools.
Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
Removes slag and rough spots with a portable grinder, file, or scraper.
Welds pipe and pipe assembly components of all kinds, sizes, and alloys, such as carbon steel and stainless steel using GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick Rod) welding procedures.
Inspects and maintains gas equipment, including changing gauges, repairing hoses, etc.
Disconnects, removes, replaces, and connects oxygen and acetylene bottles.
Works with different types and sizes of materials.
Operates overhead cranes.
Loads, transports and unloads tools, equipment and supplies.
Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of material and work pieces during installation.
Performs minor maintenance of cleaning activities of tools and equipment.

Pipe Stress Engineering Lead, Gigafactory
Support the design and construction of a variety of new and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
Perform, check and supervise pipe stress calculations
Assist in identification of critical lines requiring pipe stress analysis, review line list to ensure adequate level of criticality is defined
Shall have extensive experience in performing stress analysis and flexibility calculations for various systems such as: pump piping, reciprocating pump/compressor piping, large storage tank piping, frp piping, jacketed piping, psv piping, large diameter (36" ~ 72") piping, underground piping, high temperature (creep range) piping, low temperature cryogenic piping, etc.
Prepare calculations to address various issues such as Seismic, Wind, slug flow, mixed phase flow, water hammer, cyclic service, category m, differential settlement, psv thrust force, etc.
Perform calculations for spring supported equipment
Select expansion joints when necessary and approved, determine movements, prepare requisitions, datasheets, and review related vendor drawings
Select springs/struts/snubbers when necessary, determine movements/loads, prepare spring/strut/snubber schedule, requisitions, and review related vendor drawings
Perform reinforcement evaluation at pipe supports and branch connections
Perform simplified evaluation of vibration-related issues

Weld together metal components of products, such as pipelines, boilers as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment
Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
Obtain specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun
Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding Engineer
Start power supply to produce electric current
Strike arc which generates heat to make and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece
Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
