Formal training will be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent;
Diploma in Optical Dispensing or work experience for a minimum of two years in Lieu of Diploma. * A.B.O.C. certification from the American Board of Opticianary is required.The certification must be current. * Must have a minimum two (2) years of experience working under an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Costco Wholesale is now looking for a full time Licensed Dispensing Optician. Successful candidate will:
* Assist members to choose eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to the lens prescription.
* Measures member for pupillary distance using pupilometer and observes line of sight to determine bifocal placement.
* Keys member order into computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone. Rings up orders and over-the-counter merchandise.

Massachusetts State Licensed Dispensing Optician or national certification required.

Performs limited optical aide duties which involve assisting patrons in selecting frames and making minor frame repairs. Duties and
Assists Dispensing Optician in performing the following functions:
Making recommendations to patrons concerning the selection of frames from a wide variety of colors; recommends the correct size and fit based on facial structure, color of lenses, tinted or untinted, etc. Based on patron selection, prepares appropriate documents for processing.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: One year responsible experience in clerical, office or retail sales store work of any kind which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
