GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE
Assists the nursing staff with the transport, treatment, and care of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the nursing department and the medical center.

MINIMALLY REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must be a high school graduate.
Training and/or Experience:
Previous hospital experience preferred.
Must complete Orderly Orientation Program with at least 85% efficiency.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification:
Must maintain BLS certification or achieve certification within 30 days of hire.
Provides patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Functions as team member. Adapts to changing environment.
Equipment, Machines, Tools:
Knowledgeable of equipment used in specific clinical area (see unit-specific list), location of reference manuals, and resources for consultation.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to understand and effectively communicate in both written and oral form.
Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform complex arithmetic and financial application.
Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.
Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

Orderly In Operating Room
Performs a variety of technical, environmental and patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse during pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative phases. These duties are performed in accordance with established hospital and nursing policy and within the legal scope of practice for the unlicensed caregiver.
1.Assists Surgery Services staff, under the direct supervision of an RN, in transferring, positioning, and ambulating patients.2. Provides Patient Care assistance at the direction of an RN.3. Stock and maintain adequate levels of supplies at scrub sinks and sub rooms. Order and restock OR room supplies as directed.4. Maintain safe work environment by keeping operating rooms, storage areas and hallways clean, uncluttered and hazard free.5. Prepares the unit for cases under the direction of the Charge Nurse. Communicates with the Charge Nurse regarding room status, equipment and operational concerns6. Routes non-functional equipment to proper maintenance department location for repair, noting the apparent malfunction on the equipment.7. Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting of the operating room following infection control practices. Cleans all equipment and removes all unneeded equipment from room to proper storage area.8. Performs patient transport duties for the department, following patient identification policy and ensuring that the patient is accompanied by necessary support, including oxygen.9. Performs courier duties for the department, including the transport of blood and specimens. Transports equipment/supplies etc. to appropriate areas in safe and efficient manner.10.Performs other duties as assigned.
