As a CAD Design Engineer you will interface with Design, Development, and Engineering teams to create innovative products. You will work directly with these teams to initiate the development of new lasts. You will manage the outsole and molded component development process. You will review product requirements with Design, Development and Engineering and recommend optimal material and design specifications. You will be responsible for maintaining all 2D and 3D files. You will operate 3D printing machines, plotters, scanners, digital cameras, and peripheral equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies. You will continually research new equipment, processes and technologies based on Timberland business needs. You will gain exposure to broader product development roles and responsibilities to enable effective partnership with product development.
CAD Project Management – Maintains and manages the daily activities for all assigned projects. Thoroughly communicates necessary details to teams in Stratham and Asia in order to reach calendar milestone objectives. 50% of time involed and relative importance 5-Very High
Mold development – Manage the outsole and molded component development process at all stages by using 2D/3D CAD and Rapid Prototyping to illustrate and prove footwear construction methods and component design. Review product requirements with design, development, and engineering. Recommend optimal material and design specifications based on product performance requirements. Technical Package Development – Maintain and update PLM seasonal technical information related to outsole numbers and outsole mini-BOMs. Equipment Maintenance – Maintain equipment related to 2D and 3D CAD work, including 3D scanners, 3D printers, 2D plotters and related software. Ensure proper maintenance schedules are followed and maintain supplies. Duty Analysis –Perform 3D laser scanning to digitally capture footwear component shapes and lasts. Travel to manufacturing locations and development centers to participate in Engineering tear down meetings and development trips. 35% of time involved and relative importance 5-Very High.
Communication and Documentation – Maintain and provide a clear form of documentation and communication with product development team members in order to assist the transfer of the design solutions from concept through final product with country office developers and manufacturing representatives. 5% of time involved and relative importance 5-Very High.

3-5 years related professional experience

Candidate must also be experienced with the use of plotters, scanners, digital cameras and other peripheral equipment.
Travel 1-2 times a year, both Domestic and International
Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and Lotus Notes is needed.

The Line Builder will support the Product Development team to ensure that the merchandise assortment strategy and product development process achieve the agreed upon Private Brand vision.

Senior Product Designer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Sr. Product Designer will create innovative and trend forward new designs for LaCrosse Footwear Inc. This position will be focused on creating designs for the Danner brand for its lifestyle product lines, but will be assigned design responsibility for other product lines as directed. This position will work within the product development team to build new footwear lines from concept to reality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Communicate creative strategies, product concepts and consumer insight through original 2D visual media.
Create illustrations and technical drawings for new design concepts and digital renderings of materializations in Photoshop and Illustrator, detailing concept, materials, and development specifications based on Danner/LaCrosse brand design guidelines.
Knowledge of color trends, textures trends, human factors and forms and lifestyle trends related to product design.
Prepare, present, influence and enable business teams to act on design projects.
Collaborate and clearly communicate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure design objectives are reflected in the creation and execution of the product.
Ensure thru design considerations that product meets performance criteria, merchandising targets, price targets and aesthetic finish that align with product development timelines to enable team to bring product to market on schedule.
Create and manage timely execution of tech/design packages ensuring all level of detail is accurate.
Work with product team and suppliers to identify and select innovative materials and develop the new components necessary to complete designated projects.
Work with the design leadership to implement brand vision, design language and product direction.
Manage, and drive multiple design projects from conceptualization to finished product, adhering to calendar deadlines.
Travel with the team to factories, sales meetings, select trade shows, and significant retail regions/districts.
8+ years of footwear design experience.
Bachelor's degree in design, industrial design or related degree.
Mastery of MSFT Applications, MAC OS, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD, etc.

Complete knowledge of interdependency between design and development, and the ability to drive collaboration between the groups.
Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills and problem solving abilities. Ability to present concepts to product teams.

Strong knowledge of textile and material construction and properties.

Experience designing in the Lifestyle space, preferred.

Under the direction of the design team creates and designs new footwear by conceptualizing and providing ideation sketches, material specifications, and outsole details taking into consideration market trends and following product development time line goals.
