Note: Normal entrance salary for this position is $19.81/hourly. A higher salary may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant.
Full-time employees will receive preference in the following order: major division first, then department, and then all other full-time City employees. If it is determined that no qualified full-time City employees exist, qualified part-time employees and external applicants will be considered.
This classification is located in various departments throughout the City of Oklahoma City. This position will be used to fill a current vacancy/vacancies in the General Services Department. However, an eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies, including vacancies in other departments, per provisions of the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. This job is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Due to the nature of the work performed, the Master Mechanic must have previously acquired knowledge and skills related to automotive service excellence prior to assuming the duties of this position. The employee is primarily responsible for diagnosing equipment malfunctions, estimating repair costs, writing service orders and providing other employees with on-the-job training related to automotive repairs and maintenance. Essential job functions include: applying principles and knowledge of automotive mechanics in order to diagnose and provide service for various equipment malfunctions and performing major repairs of gasoline and diesel automotive equipment using own knowledge of mechanics, methods, tools and techniques. The Master Mechanic exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment and must be able to effectively convey technical information to inquiring City employees and co-workers. Assignments are reviewed by the supervisor periodically through inspection of records and physical observation of work performed.
Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City shall receive five (5) points added to the passing score on an initial selection process. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

NOTE: An eligibility list will be established from this posting consisting of applicants who receive a score of 70 percent or better. Multiple selection procedures may be utilized; a minimum of 70 percent or better will be required on each; and the results of multiple selection procedures will be equally weighted. Job Description Summary
Perform mechanical services, millwright work and other skills as required. Must have a good working knowledge of the all of the following: precision alignment, rigging, welding, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team member must be able to work and lead personnel in a team oriented and safety conscious environment. "Safety First" expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures.

Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards / work procedures while performing those duties and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.
Must have working knowledge of the following topics: using hand / power tools, precision alignment, rigging, pipefitting, welding, blueprint reading, mathematics, Preventive/Predictive Maintenance.
Employee will perform any and all other duties that are assigned by the responsible supervisor.
Must be able to use hand tools on a daily basis such as power tools (hand grinders, saws, impact wrenches, drill press, and hydraulic pullers), and rigging equipment. Also perform welding, using a cutting torch as required.
Must be able to operate and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks, bobcats.
Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc. utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks

Under general supervision, sets up and adjusts various types of converting equipment for safe and efficient operation in the production process. - Install machines per factory recommendations, perform preventative maintenance and repair/replace parts as necessary. Perform troubleshooting operations to identify causes of equipment performance issues. The primary focus will be working with precision thermoplastic fusion equipment including but not limited to large sheet butt welders, bending machines, pipe fusion machines, pipe saws, and specialty equipment. However, it is expected that the Industrial Mechanic also services various types of hand-held machines and tools on a daily basis.
- Input program data into semi-sophisticated PLC touch screen controls and HMI interfaces per specific factory instructions.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems as well as hydraulic systems on occasion.
- Anticipate required tools and materials for assigned tasks, communicate requirements to appropriate internal colleagues in order to ensure that parts, supplies, etc. are on hand for tasks.
- Represent our client and other OEMs whose lines the company offers during machine installs/set-up, along with training their staff in machine operation. Act as one of the key liaisons between the customer, sales team and factory engineers, maintaining good business ethics and displaying a high level of professionalism at all times.

- Strong mechanical capability in all disciplines of industrial maintenance.
- Strong electrical capability, including reading wiring diagrams, installing & repairing machinery to factory recommendations and a solid understanding of electrical conversions.
- Strong pneumatic understanding and the ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems.
- Ability to understand DWG/CAD drawings and blueprints.
- General understanding of semi-sophisticated PLC touch screen controls and HMI interfaces.
- Some hydraulic experience, ability to occasionally troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
- Basic computer skills for electronic communication and proper CRM record-keeping.
- Ability to work from prints, diagrams, schematics, operation manuals, and specifications.
- Good mathematical aptitude, capable of metric/imperial conversions, understanding of force requirements, pressure, air flow volume.
- General knowledge of motors, bearings, bushings, gear boxes, valves, pumps, solenoids, relays, switches, AC and DC drive controls, circuit boards, caliper, micrometer usage, and shop power tools.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and work in various industrial environments including a variety of hot and cold temperatures with continuous walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and kneeling. Experience with moving machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding, forklift operation, etc. is preferred.
- Strong team player, ability to receive and adhere to specific instruction from supervisor, sales team, and manufacturer, ability to follow established protocol for installations, service, and repairs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- German language skills are of advantage but not a requirement.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass pre-employment drug and background checks.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% throughout North America for machine installations, staff training, and service calls as needed (including international travel).
Adjusting machines for attainment of quality production.
Checks operation of injection molding presses, hot stampmachines, additive feeders, conveyors, etc., checks parts, inspects for defectssuch as blisters, warping, cracks, defective finish, excessive flash, missingor displaced inserts, and gauges finished parts.
Starts Injection Molding presses according to establishedprocesses. Performs quality tests onauxiliary testing equipment.
Diagnosesand corrects difficulties in operation of molds, presses, and other equipment. Requires ability to vary prescribed operationconditions as necessary to produce quality parts. Changes and adjusts feed and time asnecessary to correct deficiencies in quality.
Recommends changes in and repairs of presses, molds, andother equipment. Keep production andprocess control monitoring records. Mayassist with mold changes when necessary.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area. Performs other duties as directed bysupervision.
Ability to use basic mechanic's hand tools, thicknessgauges, scales, etc.
Overtime is required

Starting pay rate: $19.32 per hour, plus shift bonus. Increase after 90 days.
