The primary function of this position is to provide Packaging Engineering expertise supporting packaging processes, new product support and capital project engineering.
The Packaging Engineer will lead packaging projects related to cost reduction and process improvement.
He/she will be responsible for packaging specifications, change control execution, engineering qualification tests, act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for packaging topics, work with project engineers to select appropriate equipment for new products, design primary/secondary package and manage project related to packaging material selection and provide solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1.Conducts & evaluates packaging design & development to test, modify new package components and equipment for new or current products. For projects or improvements will be considered the estimation, justification, budget, schedule, design, implementation, acquisition, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and documentation facilities and equipment compliant with local, state, federal, and international regulations. Develop equipment design and specifications, design of equipment support systems, and bid analyses. Provide engineering solutions for continuous improvement objectives, and for cost effective and efficient operations using change control procedures.
Act as a project lead/SME on packaging activities for new and existing products. Identify and qualify required tooling and/or packaging components for projects within the required timelines.
2.Provide identification and troubleshooting of potential or current packaging problems and support of maintenance mechanics to identify and resolve problems in order to maintain and potentially increase productivity.
Reviews & approves packaging documentation such as batch record changes, printed component artwork, and packaging change controls as appropriate to support site operations.
4.Demonstrate leadership role in solving packaging issues in products in production.
Mentor of Packaging Operators in development of packaging technologies as relates to material science, performance testing & legal requirements.
5.Responsible for understanding and managing the proper use of packaging engineering documentation required under cGMPs and in compliance with generally accepted engineering procedures or quality standards as delineated in the Standard Operating Procedures. Examples include the engineering work order system, SOP documentation, validation documentation, etc.
