The Packaging Technician's main responsibility is in the packing, crating and forklifting of all XRM's instruments for delivery to our worldwide locations. This position is responsible to coordinate the preparation and packaging of the main enclosure assembly along with all the sub-components or sub-assemblies.
They will work very closely with the production personnel along with Logistics to ensure that all materials and documents are ready on the required dates to maintain a 100% on time delivery.
When packs are completed and time permits, this position will support the warehouse operations in the packing, shipping, and un-crating of materials moving through the warehouse (i.e. Service spares). They will also support kitting and auditing of materials moving into the production cycle.
When available, this position will also support low level assembly activities as order intake fluctuates. This will include the assembly and installation of electrical/mechanical sub-systems using work instructions and/or assembly drawings with direct supervision of an MT1 or MT2 personnel.

HS Diploma or equal along with a minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience in a similar role

Work as part of a team operating pharmaceutical packaging lines. Operate packaging equipment and other related tasks. Maintain accurate and concurrent documentation of all tasks completed. Maintain a positive attitude and be able to work well with others in a team environment. Demonstrate good attendance.
Record Keeping and Documentation
- Maintain and complete accurate records (time cards, batch records, log books, etc.).
Operate assigned equipment, i.e. . PLC controlled packaging line, vision system, etc.
Clean production equipment and facilities.
Set-up/ disassemble production equipment.
Operate specific in-process devices associated with the equipment, i.e. moisture analyzers, pH meters, etc.
Operate material handling devices, electric pallet jack, manual pallet jacks, and hi-lifts.
Apply the metric system to assigned process calculations.
SOPs / cGMPs
Follow all SOPs/cGMPs applicable to the area.
Apply proper housekeeping techniques.
Follow proper dress policy.
Practice good safety techniques in the manufacturing area, including lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
Read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per SOPs, i.e. safety shoes, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hearing protection, etc.
Decision Making -- Demonstrated ability to:
Delegate questionable issues upward.
Follow directions either written, or oral.
Know when to stop the process for anomalies.
Learn to identify "out-of-spec" material.
Familiar with production/process flow.
Know proper staging and storage location for supplies and equipment.

Physical Position Requirements

Responsible for the setup, operation, and maintaining of multiple complex, high-speed packaging lines, conveying systems and support systems.
Responsible for maintaining all equipment related to the bulk loading and shipping operations.
Ensures production lines are properly configured for the desired products and maintains the line to meet production goals and standards.
Performs all mechanical repairs and adjustments, including troubleshooting, to maintain the line in first class operating condition. Incumbents are required to pass a Combined Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge.
Previous mechanical experience and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in mechanical repairs is required.
Able to work with metric tools and measurements and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of common hand tools. Must have the ability to use a multimeter.
Must be able to obtain a valid forklift license and must have a valid driver's license.

This position reports to the Logistics Manager in support of the Production Supervisors. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Under minimal supervision, assembles product packaging by performing the following duties:
Visual inspection of parts for flaws and defects as defined.
Assemble all column hardware assemblies, bed supports and ship kits.
Sealing, packaging, and labeling of completed products including: columns (i.e. IC; OnGuard), suppressors, eluent generating cartridges, and reagents with associated literature.
Generate all required labels for both product and package.
Operate computer system to check product data and specifications.
Fill out Rejection and Store Transaction forms as needed.
Perform regular cycle counts and assists in inventory control of packaging stock levels.
Assist teammates in achieving goals, often requiring multi-tasking.
Additional duties as assigned.
