Assist Operators, Crew Leaders, Lead Operators, Contract Formulators, Site Support Services, and Material Handlers.
Job Related Equipment: Screw conveyor, blenders, storage vessels, pumps, mills, fork trucks, packaging equipment, washing equipment, cleaning utensils, dust houses, filters, sealers, scales, invert-a-bins, manual and power operated overhead lifting devices, and many others.
Safety Equipment: Respirators, gloves, coveralls, hard hats, barrier suits, aprons, goggles, etc. Refer to appropriate Safety Procedure.
Production: Operate equipment involved in the packaging of finished products.
Obtain and/or make up containers, clean, label, fill, seal, palletize, and stretch-wrap according to established procedures. Complete all necessary paperwork. Shovel snow from building entrances, roofs, from around railroad switches and firehouses.
Clean plant areas as instructed by supervision. Assist Crew Leaders, Lead Operators, Operators, Contract Formulators, Site Support Services and Material Handlers in the startup and shutdown of production operations, and report any problems and downtime to supervisor. Packers work inside and outside the plant Production, Stores and Warehouse buildings.
Other work locations include railcars and trailer trucks and their respective loading and unloading stations. Packers will sometimes be required to climb ladders and stairs, and perform work in and on elevated areas such as roofs and dust collectors. Some areas will be noisy and may include various inclement temperatures and weather conditions.
Stooping, bending and heavy lifting are involved in all areas. Duties performed in operating areas will required working with toxic and hazardous chemicals around moving machinery.
Safety and Health: Packers are required to work safely, follow all safety rules and procedures, attend monthly safety meetings, report unsafe conditions to supervisors at once, and keep all tools and equipment in safe working condition.
They will also be encouraged to read and ask questions about safety materials such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Safety Information (JSI), and know where to find them. Additionally, Packers will need to maintain clean and orderly work areas and offer suggestions and seek answers concerning safety issues.
Environment: Report and conditions, no matter how minor, that could damage the environmental controls and perform job duties in a manner that will minimize waste.

High School or equivalent
Experience working in a manufacturing environment and operating a fork lift.
Computer skills a plus

Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for picking, inspecting, and packing quality parts into boxes on his/her assigned Thermoforming Line.
Accurately counting parts to ensure that customers get a consistent, quality product.
Bagging counted parts and placing into correct box on the assigned production line.
Assure that each box is properly sealed to minimize the potential for damage.
Verify proper date codes and labels are on all boxes being put on the skids.
Keep pace with the speed of the machine and not allow packable parts to fall in the scrap bin or deliberately scrap packable parts.
Keep up on grinding when machine is down and as time permits.
Assist Machine Operator when needed.
Give oncoming shift a good change over as to how the machine ran during the shift.
Stay around at the end of the shift until the area is completely clean and ready for the oncoming shift.
Have a minimum of 2 hours worth of boxes, bags, and labels ready for the oncoming shift. These are to be in the packer's staging area.
Any other duties as assigned by the Leads, or Management.
Safety and Cleanliness
Maintains good housekeeping and makes sure the packing area is kept clean, at all times.
Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports unsafe conditions to the Operator and/or supervisor for resolution.
Adheres to safety policy.
Must wear hairnet and all safety gear at all times.
Meets or exceed minimum standards for quality packaged Finished Goods.
Reports any quality problems immediately to the Operator.
If quality of product is unacceptable and the operator is not around the Packer will turn on the notification light switch or alarm near packing area.

Essential Functions and
This job exists primarily to inspect, bag and palletize finished product and complete required forms, and to clean the compound liner and clear or assist in clearing liner jams.
The incumbent is guided by established procedures and policies and direction from the supervisor, working supervisor or line maintainer. Reports to the Production Supervisor.
1.Inspect, bag and palletize finished product and complete required paperwork.
Visual inspection of product, correctly packing product into a paper sleeve, properly loading sleeves on a pallet, snake wrapping sleeves on the pallet, and placing pallet on pallet stand.
2.Clean compound liner.
Cleaning the compound application with brush, rag and cleaning wiping down the machine and conveyance lines.
3.Clear or assist in clearing infeed and discharge jams on compound applicator or associated conveyances.
Removing jammed or damaged product.
Restarting the line.
Complete necessary paperwork and computer entries.
Preparing the finished product ticket.
Completing production-related reports.
5.Appear for work the standard work week plus all required overtime.:
Must be able to work all hours necessary to meet customer demand for product.
6.Maintain safety and hygiene.
Sweeping, mopping, and picking up debris throughout the facility.
Notifying supervisor of any observed safety hazard, aisle obstruction, spills or related conditions.
Maintain hair in hair net or ball cap while at packing station and wear gloves to pack lids.
No jewelry of any sort is allowed on manufacturing floor.
No shorts, tank tops, or offensive T-shirts permitted as dress code.
7.Maintain effective communications with supervisor and QA Manager.
Regular contact with manager, supervisor, working supervisor or line maintainer.
Completion of required reports or forms.
Provide on-the-job training.
This job requires mathematical ability, ability to read and write and communicate verbally and in writing, ability to learn and follow safety practices, procedures and equipment usage, including ability to operate a fire extinguisher and hear the fog horn and warning bell.
Must have good eye to hand coordination; be able to lift up to 20 pounds, four to five times per shift and up to 10-12 pounds regularly.
Must have good visual acuity.
Must be able to operate a computer and printer.

The Part-Time Packer position is responsible for constructing and packing boxes of product. The weekly work hours are generally 20 or more hours per week, depending on production schedules.
Hours are mainly in the evening, with many shifts involving working overnight. Weekend and Holiday work is required. Work is performed near heavy machinery in a loud warehouse environment with productivity closely and constantly monitored.
Responsibilities include: constructing and packing boxes either manually or with the help of automated machines, conducting quality checks, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and repetitively moving the arms and torso while continually standing for many hours.
