Automotive Paint Sprayer
We are looking for a highly motivated Automotive Painter to work on the most progressive vehicle brands in the world. This position will be supporting the Tesla's Paint shop located in Fremont, CA. Mix and spray paint and primer per work instruction
Priming, sanding, masking and buffing body parts and bodies of the vehicles in accordance with Tesla's quality specifications and time standards.
Operate and use all equipment properly and safely.
Maintain spray equipment pressure pots, spray guns, booth and paint storage area.
Escalate functional and process failures to the appropriate support groups and leaders.
1+ years of experience working in a high volume automotive paint shop
An understanding of common defects, what causes paint failures and how to correct them
Experienced in surface preparation and paint finishing (color sanding and finish polishing)
Experienced in cleaning panels in preparation for painting and priming
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work within a schedule and adapt to sudden changes
Use of assembly equipment and tooling (power tools, automated equipment)
Promote all Cudd safety programs while continually expressing and enforcing

Essential Job Functions:
Clean metal and nonmetal surfaces through use of sandblasting equipment.
Adjusts varied amounts and mixtures of abrasive compounds for stubborn contaminants and heavy corrosion.
May perform timed traverse or repeat adjustments of turntable movements (Forward, swivel and reverse) or optimum positioning of moderate/large metal or nonmetal assemblies to determine the most extensive and/or precise nozzle openings.
Determines the sweeping direction of blast over difficult internal or external surfaces without damage to equipment/facilities and without injury to coworkers.
Use of a respirator and /or air fed hood is required.
Works on a variety of large end items in support of the refinishing process on shelters, vans, trailers, communication equipment.
Using specialized tools and sandblasting equipment, cleans metal parts of various types of equipment in the shop for repair or overhaul.
Sets controls and regulates amount of abrasive material flowing through sandblasting gun.
Directs flow against material to remove rust, paint, tar, and dirt to prepare equipment for painting and processing through the shop.
Makes adjustments and preventive maintenance repairs to sandblasting equipment. Keeps equipment and area clean and in an orderly condition.
Assists in other shop operations such as cleaning and preparing parts to be sent to paint shop; steam cleaning motors, chassis, and extra parts.
Must wear protective suit (supplied with air while being used) at all times.
Must be on the alert for malfunctions to sandblast and safety equipment.

Education & Experience:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
Must have two (2) or more years' recent experience.

Offline Finishing Sprayer 2Nd Shift

Sets up and operates all equipment to perform manual operations necessary to finish loose component parts (back panels, rails, knobs and other furniture items) in off-line finishing area.
Applies all finishing material to component parts and racks for air-drying.
Sands sealer and lacquer finishes by hand and uses steel wool when finish requires this process.
Blends glazes by hand until specified appearance is acquired.
Presses button to start spray booth exhaust fan.
Turns sprayer valve and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray applying knowledge of painting technique.
Presses trigger of spray gun and directs spray onto surfaces of furniture articles to apply uniform finish coating.
Trucks finished parts to next location.
Cleans spray gun with solvents at end of each day.
Performs other duties at the Supervisor's direction.
Maintains equipment and work area in neat and orderly manner.
Notifies Supervisor of any quality and/or safety issues.
Detects faulty materials/process and notifies Supervisor.
Follows prescribed safety policies and procedures.
Must be able to routinely stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull and lift moderate to heavy items.

Perform general maintenance and housekeeping to sandblasting area and equipment.
Ability to follow Compactor Operation Standardized Operating Procedures.

Under general supervision, the Sandblaster follows established safety and operating procedures to clean metal castings in accordance with quality standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Removes shell, scale, grinding marks and other material from castings.
Verifies lot and part identification.
Loads castings into shotblast cabinet; adjusts air pressure.
Operates the sandblast machine from outside the sandblast cabinet.
Sandblasts parts in cabinet by directing hand-held nozzles; uses different sized pipes and nozzles, depending on part.
Visually inspects sandblast parts to verify removal of materials and uniform color of parts.
Maintains equipment in good working order and maintain a clean work area.
Performs minor equipment maintenance, including changing hoses and nozzles.
Adds sand to machine as needed.
Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
Safely operates all equipment and tools.
