DFP Paint Technician
This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines. Under the direction of the Production management, the DFP Paint Technician will perform a variety of painting activities for interior Aircraft parts and assemblies.
Prepare composite and sheet metal parts and assemblies for paint as well as fill and fair Paint aircraft parts and assemblies with different water based and solvent based paints in accordance with released data. Read and interpret engineering drawings, engineering orders, and work instructions. Read, understand and follow Delta, Boeing and Airbus process and material specifications.
Properly use calibrated precision measuring equipment Comply with lean manufacturing principals and work with leads and supervisors to implement best practices in the manufacturing process. Work with engineers and management in problem solving production issues. Be prepared to cross train and be utilized in other aspects in the production process.
Follow all procedures for the use and proper fitting of required respirator systems Maintain safe operations by adhering to DFP safety procedures and regulations JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum/basic skills & qualifications an individual qualified for this position should possess. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical school or experience working in a Painting facility is preferred High level of manual dexterity and detail orientation Possess the ability to visually recognize and identify different colors Good oral and written communication skills; able to read, comprehend and create written and verbal instructions in the English language Computer skills preferred Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be very loud.

Job Summary: Applies basic technical skills and knowledge in original equipment manufacturing of paint preparation.
Performs initial surface preparation and other detailed work operations required to be completed in this area of specialization • Sanding as required to remove old paint and other surface materials that may interfere with paint application. • Fill surface imperfections with specified material and sand as appropriate to promote smooth finish. • Perform minor assembly of parts, components and subsystems using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards. • Mask and tape components as necessary to prevent paint overspray and allow for multiple color application. • Read and interpret specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders. • The individual is required to be a supportive member of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Quality System policies to provide a safe work place and eliminate conditions and behaviors which may cause work related illnesses and/or injuries while delivering quality product and services on time.
