This position is accountable to the Production Supervisor and has manufacturing operation responsibilities for the finishing of TWG products by preparing, painting and inspecting products. This position will contribute to the success of the operations of TWG by performing the following duties personally as listed in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities section as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (functions): TWG expects all employees to work SAFELY without injury maintaining the highest SAFETY standards in compliance with Company SAFETY policies
1.Follows manufacturers & company's safety & health procedures for all processes
2.Successfully uses a pressure pot system to spray surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, urethanes, alkyd enamels, primers, lacquers, epoxy's, glaze, gel-coat, lacquer products or other required finishes
3.Preparation of parts, pieces, assemblies for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling, & other related & required processes
4.Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated
5.Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color
6.Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose
7.Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
8.Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat
9.Maintains & cleans paint equipment & paint areas including changing filters in respirators & paint exhaust systems
10. Removes rust from metal with wire brush, or steel wool

This position will have a strong focus on painting, and will be the primary task. Basic maintenance and emergency call rotation will be a requirement as well.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Paints and repairs walls, doors, ceilings, and other internal and external objects. Provide back-up for the Service Technician/Apprentice.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Managed by the Community Director or Service Team Manager and may report to the Service Manager

Mix, match, and apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
Cover surfaces and furniture to protect them from paint and remove splattered paint.
Maintain tools and equipment and ensure that they are in proper working order by cleaning and caring for brushes, spray guns, and other equipment.
Request replacement supplies as necessary and assist in stocking inventory.
Assist Service Technicians in performing their duties and responsibilities as needed or as requested.
Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
RequirementsPERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of organizational and community policies and procedures. Knowledge of an ability to follow proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, community, and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
Demonstrated ability to understand and comprehend instructions. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, associate/resident/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor.
Skill to professionally apply paint, wood finish and other surface preparation. The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
The ability to work on a ladder. The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. Ability to acquire knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements.
Ability to be pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Ability to proactively recognize and implement superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Ability to use a computer, a smart phone, and enter service ticket information into the system.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular bending, stooping, walking and stretching.
Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry or maneuver weights up to one hundred (100) pounds independently and two hundred and fifty (250) pounds with assistance. Sensory capability to detect odors and hear sounds necessary to detect, diagnose, and repair machinery. Requires normal range of eyesight.
Ability to physically access exterior and interior parts of the community and amenities and be able to climb ladders. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Periodic exposure to outside elements where temperature, weather, odors, and/or landscape may be unpleasant and/or hazardous. Flexible schedules with occasional evening and regular weekend work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in painting.
Experience with carpentry, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing is a plus.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted

General Position Summary:

4:30 pm, Monday
Friday) to work on the team that updates residential units and/or common areas in need of renovations and painting.
You'll be responsible to maintain all work areas in a clean and safe manner while properly patching and prepare assigned areas for painting. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Facilities Services & Operations and the daily work direction of the lead Painter, the Facilities Painter is responsible for performing a full range of skilled journey-level work in painting, finishing and maintaining a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures to ensure a clean, safe and attractive learning environment. Position makes decisions based upon sound maintenance practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.Journey-level Paint Work – Prepares surfaces for painting and finishing to include repair or replacement of drywall and ceiling tiles; Performs minor associated maintenance such as replacement of baseboards, light covers, emergency exit signs, light and outlet switch plates. Applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods including brush, roll, and spray; mixes and matches paints and finishes; performs sand and water blasting; erects scaffolding and/or staging for painting projects; paints signs and parking lot/roadway markings; advises in the selection and storage of painting materials; inspects completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspects related work performed by contractors; estimates cost, time and materials for painting projects; participates in the maintenance and operations of a paint shop; cleans and maintains painting and finishing materials, tools, and equipment used in the performance of duties; performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures; maintains a safe and clean work environment. Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials such as paint thinners, lead and asbestos. Performs preventative maintenance per shop schedule. Responds to graffiti calls within 24 hours and, if immediate repair is not possible, apply temporary fix.
2.Safety and Training – Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures; including lead abatement, if certified. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
3.Shop, Tool and Equipment Maintenance – Operates power tools and shop equipment including tint machine, shaker, grinder, power air sander shop vacuum, portable generator and manlift.
4.General Guidelines – Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools. Provides feedback to the Supervising Painter, when requested, on strategies to efficiently utilize resources to create a timely and efficient workflow. Adheres to guidelines that support the functions of the unit. Contributes, participates and functions within a team environment. Acts with consideration towards others when working in their areas while operating equipment, tools and vehicles, etc. Communicates and conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times to properly represent yourself, your team (Shop/FS&O Division/ University). Contributes, participates, and functions in a team environment. Communicates and conducts self in professional manner at all times.
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Work requires thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the painting trade including painting, finishing, drywall, and paperhanging; and a thorough knowledge of the applicable state codes and regulations, including the Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety of the State of California.
Ability to: be able to apply paints and finishes neatly and accurately; mix paints and finishes and match colors; erect and work from scaffolds, rigging and ladders; select the most appropriate materials; read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications; make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and materials of painting work; maintain records and retrieve data using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems; prepare standard reports; provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants in an effective and professional manner; analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; and perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position. Incumbents may be required to possess a California Driver's License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment they are required to operate.
The abilities normally would be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter's apprenticeship program.

Position required full range of motion, and a variety of movements necessary to perform strenuous manual labor, including but not limited to lifting and moving moderate sized equipment up to 10 to 50 pounds (moving up to 100 pounds is required rarely). Position requires bending, climbing, reaching, moving heavy objects and equipment, and applying force.
Standard vision requirements with/without corrective aides: Close (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral; Depth Perception; Ability to adjust focus. Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials such as paint thinners, lead and asbestos.

Standing/Sitting: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.
Heights: Able to work at heights.
Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.
Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.
Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 25 lbs
Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop.
Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.
Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands.
Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power moving equipment and power moving equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed.
Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required.

Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust.

Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift.
Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate as required. Able to work around heavy equipment or machinery.
To use spray guns and accessory equipment. To do all kinds of finish painting. To work from scaffold, swing stages, and boatswain's chairs at heights over twenty feet.
To have a complete knowledge of paint and sign painter shop theory, practice and procedure including mixing, blending, and matching of paints, decorative and protective functions of paint and other applied materials, and maintenance and new construction
painting. To hang wall paper.
To compose, lay out and produce any painted sign. To use paint brushes and do precise freehand sign painting. To use layout tools, spray guns and sign painter's equipment.
Knowledge of 6S principles and applications including applying Tape and Striping of floor.
