1.This occupation requires the brush and spray painting of primer and finish coats of paints, dopes, etc., on surfaces of aircraft, parts, assemblies, details, sub-assemblies, facilities equipment, buildings, etc.
2.Painters at all levels are expected to perform work at increasing levels of skill and complexity as they gain experience.
3.Reliability, communications skills, workmanship, and good judgment are essential traits.
Responsible for, but not limited to:
1.Prepares surfaces to be painted by masking, cleaning, etching and sanding.
2.Replaces decals and performs stencil work.
3.Performs rework and touch-ups in close-out areas.
4.Applies all types of primers to the interior or exterior of an aircraft, parts, vehicle, or buildings.
5.Applies primer coats to details, parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.

8.Removes treated paint with steam and/or high pressure water.

The Northern Rockies Servicing Human Resources Office (NR SHRO) is currently seeking applicants to fill at least three permanent Painter positions at Yellowstone National Park.
AREA/HOUSING INFORMATION: Positions may be located at any of several locations within Yellowstone National Park. Most duty stations are 40-50 miles from the nearest gateway community with services (grocery stores, motels, restaurants, medical offices). A medical clinic is available in Mammoth Hot Springs. Park Headquarters are located at Mammoth Hot Springs, elevation 6,200 feet. Temperatures in the park may vary from negative 40 degree Fahrenheit or colder to 80 degrees above zero during the summer and winter months. Schools are available with kindergarten through 12 located in Gardiner, Montana, five miles north of headquarters. Many community facilities such as stores, a drugstore, motels, and restaurants are available in Gardiner. A medical clinic is available in Mammoth. All other services are available within 55 to 75 miles of Mammoth. Housing is not provided, but may be available thru a competitive process.

These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions.
