The Outside Machinist is responsible for the modification, repair, assembly and installation of various ship systems and machinery for surface ship installation and repair. This position is responsible for fixing, servicing, aligning, setting up and testing machines, equipment and devices that operate on a mechanical and electro mechanical basis. Evaluate procedures and recommends changes or modifications related to efficiency of setup and production.
Duties and Responsibilities
Able to remove and reinstall generators.
Perform major overhaul and rebuilding on most diesel and gas and air compressors.
Perform all types of major alignments (gearbox, engine shaft, etc.)
Disassemble and reassemble tow winch components, mooring winches, capstans, anchor windlasses, hydraulic and mechanical cranes.

This position exists to at a fully operational independent level to respond, troubleshoot, and correct building client issues during normal operating hours. This position works at and travels to all the facilities listed above and the job duties includes, but not limited to, building temperature control, minor plumbing and electrical problems and minor building security issues (locked doors, broken windows, etc.
Paint walls, equipment, buildings, casework, and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
Paint removal of old paint to prepare surface prior to painting.
Mixing Paint of colors to obtain desired color or consistency.
Prepare area to protect during painting using drop cloths or masking tape and paper.
Minor repairs using caulking guns or putty knive to fill cracks, holes or joints to make ready for painting.
Preform general drywall duties;hang, tape, texture, drywall plaster patch.
Working with fast drying materials and duties may need to be preformed in a secure area with patients or clients present.
Inspect facilities for necessary repairs such as burnt out exit lights, responding to calls.
General maintenance repair walls, ceilings, floors and accentuated systems.
