Performs a wide variety of painting and coating processes, including preparing parts for paint or insulation, and preparing parts for inspection. Works from drawings, sketches, or routings to determine processes/procedures to be used.
Maintain painter log sheets as required for manufacturing and environmental purposes and maintain all equipment.

As a Painter, you will:
Paint, decorate, and refinish interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture and fixtures, presses, machinery or other structures and equipment as may require a protective and/or decorative coating.
Evaluate condition of the surface to be covered and selects a surface preparation technique consistent with the type and condition of surface, the coating material to be applied, and the exposure and expected condition of use. Remove old surface coating and clean away dirt, rust, grease or other surface impurities which would deter adhesion qualities of the coating material. Use various means for removing surface coating such as sandpaper, steel wool, solvents, blowtorch, strippers, and etc. Also operate various powered sanding equipment and power wash equipment and ensures that the surface does not become marred or damaged.
Select, prepare, and apply paint or other mixture to surfaces using brush, roller, or various types of spray equipment. Use the best possible method that is consistent with the type and condition of the surfaces and the applicator used.
Custom sign fabrication by using computerized pantograph equipment. This requires the use of a personal computer using Windows 98 software and an engraving plotter.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) year certification from college or technical school required.
One (1) to three (3) years of "hands on" experience or equivalent combination of training and/or experience required.

Must have solid decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal communication skills are required. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment. Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationships with all individuals. Ability to work occasional overtime and irregular hours.
Painters are responsible for mixing and applying paint to various surfaces using various paint techniques and tools to complete paint projects.
Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them independently and teach others how to complete the tasks. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. A first class mechanic also is expected to strategize independently and problem-solve as appropriate.
Possess brush and roll painting skills
Perform a layout on a job
Produce completed work efficiently and with minimal or no defects that are out of tolerance
Operate and clean the stencil machine
Wrap small jobs and compartments using one of the following materials: polyurethane (plastic) /fire retardant paper/ herkuline material
Mastics & Caulk Application
Know the uses for mastics
Prepare and apply mastics whether in putty or liquid form
Caulk all jobs
Cut Lines and Figures
Cut lines for painting
Measure the square footage for painting
Follow the directions outlined in the sketch
Tape or chalk an area to prep for painting
Execute the job based on directions outlined in sketch
Power Tool Surface Prep
Use the needle gun, deck crawler and power tool (pneumatic or electric) for surface prep
Remove existing coating systems
Sand an area to prep for painting
Know surface prep standards
Must have completed the following training:
Quality critical activities (Strippers and Painting training)
PCMS Tile-Maintenance and Installation
Test valves on a machine to ensure that it is operational
Assess equipment and diagnose issues
Repair mechanical issues
Secondary skills that are preferred but not required:
Spray Airless Painting
Completed spray application training
Operate the spray pump
Operate and know differences between Conventional Airless and Plural Component Airless spray pumps
