About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking multiple Paleontological Field Technicians to support field work for projects in the Rocky Mountain Region (e.g., Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota). You should be able to work alone or on small teams; and depending on workload overtime is possible.
What you will accomplish
SWCA paleontological field Technicians assist with field surveys, construction monitoring, excavations, fossil salvages, and other field tasks as needed. We place an emphasis on thorough, accurate and efficient collection and recordation of paleontologic, lithologic and stratigraphic data. Field techs may also be required to assist with laboratory fossil preparation, data entry and management, and data analysis.
Experience and qualifications for success
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geology or Biology with education or equivalent training in paleontology and sedimentary geology is required; although a graduate degree in Geology or Biology or equivalent training in paleontology and sedimentary geology is desirable
Must have the necessary experience and minimal qualifications to be approved as a Field Agent (preferred) or Field Monitor by the BLM
Prior paleontological field experience including looking for, finding, and documenting fossils is necessary with preference for experience in the Rocky Mountain Region
Prior experience with paleontological mitigation projects and the ability to describe sedimentary rocks is highly desirable
Ability to conduct fieldwork for long hours in sometimes inclement (e.g., hot, cold, wet) weather conditions, including hiking long distances (up to 7 miles per day) often in rugged terrain; must be able to carry of various types of field equipment and supplies weighting up to 40 pounds
Must have the ability to use excavation tools (e.g., shovels, picks) and kneel, potentially in tight spaces, for extended periods of time.
Knowledge of ArcGIS applications is a plus.
Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record; and must comply with SWCA safety policies

JOB SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Assist driver with safe and efficient delivery of food products to MFS customers. Handle freight, follow QA processes, provide for safer delivery with respect to load issues and work demand, as well as attend to the security of the product and equipment at the delivery point.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:
Unload product from truck to customer premises by use of ramp and 2-wheeled hand truck.
Put away any freezer/cooler product that requires stacking.
Ensure safety procedures are followed with ramp security using supplied safety equipment.
Provide for safer delivery with loading issues.
Inspect equipment to ensure it is in proper operating condition
Ensure the refrigeration units are operating properly
Remove/document route returns from trailers and return to designated warehouse location
Assist driver with dispatch preparation, load security, and delivery equipment loading.
Ensure high level of security is maintained with equipment and staging area at delivery points.
Assist driver as ground guide in backing on to public roads and into hazardous areas.
Place cones at ramp base with each delivery.
Place cones / reflective triangles / flares due to breakdown or as directed by driver.
Ensure compliance with QA procedures.
Assist driver when necessary with route navigation.
Perform other duties as directed by driver (CDL).
Must be able to handle any type of product ordered by our customers.
Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by our customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must possess:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
A Class C driver's license. Class A CDL license preferred.
The ability to read maps, labels, invoices, and manifests.
Good communication, both verbal and written.
Mathematical ability specific to adding, subtracting, and verifying quantities of product.
Excellent customer service skills. Verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight routes when necessary.

Operator Helper - Equipment Operator
Under supervision, perform semi-skilled manual work in connection with an entry level position in power plant operation. Assist equipment operators while learning the following job duties:
Isolate, clean, open, replace, inspect, close and return to service plant equipment. Isolate equipment and place/remove clearance tags in the plant and switchyard. Operate, regulate, adjust, clean and perform minor maintenance on plant auxiliary systems.
Monitor and inspect all plant equipment for normal operation. Identify and report abnormal conditions to the proper authority and write work orders. Operate, clean, service and lubricate portable power driven tools and equipment.
Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Utilize portable meters, analyzers and equipment to conduct tests and monitoring. Lubricate and check lubrication equipment; adjust packing glands as necessary and perform necessary operative maintenance, using appropriate hand tools.
Operate oil filtering equipment. Erect and remove simple scaffolding and rigging. Perform routine cleaning of plant areas and equipment, including outside areas, as assigned.
Load, unload, move and handle materials, supplies and equipment; open boxes, barrels, bags and other materials using material handling equipment.
Monitor water chemistry as required. Maintain water pH and follow EPA guidelines as applicable.
Assist in preparing boilers and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service. If applicable, monitor coal feed to mills and burners and observe conditions of fires and furnaces. Hand lance slag in boilers, hand- operating soot blowers, unplugging ash lines, disposing of clinkers and other similar work.
Use flow diagrams to identify system piping and equipment and revise these prints as required. Make required equipment checks and assist in performing tests and preparing related reports, graphs and curves. Perform duties in accordance with Company's safety rules, operating regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
Train for and carry out assignments in firefighting, first aid and other emergency response programs as required. Perform other job duties as assigned.
