Responsibilities
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mission Assurance Team (MAT) provides independent risk assessment of launch systems for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Office of Space Launch (OSL). The Systems Engineering and Launch Division is looking for a Structural Panel Engineer/ Sr. Sctructural Panel Engineer to provide proactive support for the Mission Assurance Team (MAT)
KEY FUNCTIONS
Serve as the subject matter expert structures and dynamic issues for EELV, new entrant launch providers and small launch vehicles
Lead the MAT Structure Panel to provide a technical risk assessments of issues for NRO missions
Manage Structure Panel to provide proper resources and tasking of MAT personnel to include ETG, SETA and launch vehicle (LV) contractor support.
Assemble and lead multi-disciplinary teams to analyze complex technical launch vehicle issues and provide risk assessment as well as potential mitigation when appropriate
Lead MAT reviews at contractor and subcontractor facilities
Brief technical issues to the Director of OSL
Provide presentations of technical issues for OSL customer to support Flight Readiness Reviews, Mission Certification Reviews and Consent to launch.
Provide a conduit for the customer to access Aerospace corporate expertise.
Actively network with contractors, government agencies, the various Aerospace program offices, and the Engineering and Technology Group to provide the customer with the best independent technical assessment using data/information/analyzes available from other organizations.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
For the Sturctural Panel Engineer
Minimum of 8 years of engineering and/or space launch experience
Strong background in launch vehicle structures in one or more of the following: primary structures, secondary structures, dynamic environment, pressure vessels, turbo machinery, or mechanical systems.
Ability to prepare and present technical data clearly and concisely
Strong interpersonal skills with team leadership and consensus building abilities to work within the MAT and launch vehicle community (SETAs, Aerospace, and customer)
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication
Ability to obtain and keep a TS/SCI clearance
Ability to travel and occasionally support extended work hours
In addition to the above, the Senior Structural Panel Engineer should have the following:
Minimum of 12 years of engineering and/or space launch experience
Ability to lead and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, multi-organizational team
Demonstrated initiative to work and resolve complex technical system engineering issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in engineering or sciences
Prior program office experience with support to OSL and/or the MAT
Strong systems engineering experience
Familiarity with Atlas V, Delta IV, Falcon 9, and Minotaur Launch vehicles
Proven ability in working effectively with the government customer
Current or active TS/SSBI

The Role
The Installer I will be part of Tesla's Energy Field Operations team.
