Eaton has an immediate opening for a Production Associate, Panelboard Assembly, 1A/2A- 1st Shift located in Sumter, SC. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide manufacturing expertise and support in all areas of the Panelboard Segment Team including, but not limited to, allocation of materials, assembly, inspection, testing, wiring, and shipping with the overall goal of timely order fulfillment and adherence to Eaton’s quality standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed.
Receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers so as to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner. Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned function and perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.
Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals.
Keep assigned work-area clean and organized per 5S standards.
Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignment. Receive information from team members regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to perform one’s function.
Exhibit strong analytical and problem solving skills so as to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur in the production process.
Perform Lean Initiatives by recommending suggestions for improvement related to quality, work processes, and environmental safety and health.
Perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.
Correctly select and install various components/devices in accordance to drawings, diagrams, blueprints, travel documents, DMM system, manufacturing information, Kanban cards, hand drawn layout request, oral / written instructions. Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or operations experience.
Minimum 2 months of assembly experience

Responsibilities and Duties
Under direction, operates, adjusts, regulates, and maintains plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and industrial use; does other related duties.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treatment plant. Dumps specified amounts of chemicals such as chlorine, ammonia, and lime into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water. Starts agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank. Turns valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities. Pumps purified water into water mains. Monitors panelboard and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water. Cleans tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water). Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment using handtools and power tools. Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter. Dumps chemicals such as alum into tanks to coagulate impurities and to reduce acidity. Records data such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure. May perform minor repairs such as replacing packing in pumps or valves and/or replacing bearings in motors and pumps, lubricating machines and equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
One (1) year of experience in operating, adjusting, regulating, repairing, and maintaining electric motors, pumps, valves, and other electrical and mechanical equipment of the type used in a water treatment plant, pumping station, or filtration plant. Appointees may be required to possess a valid Public Water Treatment Operator license of the appropriate class, depending on the permit level of the facility, issued by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
