MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Superintendent (Paper Machine) role will be to provide direct oversight of the paper machine operation. The position will directly supervise Shift Supervisors, Asst. Superintendents, Operations/Maintenance Coordinator and Process Engineer.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
Establish and direct production operations in a safe and orderly manner providing quality products according to job schedules and customer specifications.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations; adhere to permit requirements.
Lead efforts in pursuit of cost savings initiatives through operational improvements.
Develop, plan, and administer material and labor usage.
Work closely with Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure efficient execution of troubleshooting, planning and maintenance repair activities are carried out.
Key participant for annual outage planning. Ensure the annual outage is completed on time and in accordance to budget.
Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation.
Develop improved methods for new capital investments, cost reduction and equipment refurbishment.
Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource and Mill Managers.
Assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement.
Determine training needs and administer appropriate training programs for salaried and hourly employees on Paper Machines in order to function in the most reliable manner.
Provide leadership with the implementation of problem solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives.
Oversee training initiatives for department personnel.
Actively participates in the strategic and capital planning processes for the department.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.
Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.
Strong team player and communicator

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
5-7 year's paper machine experience.
3-5 year's supervisory experience

General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

As a Coating operator you will be assigned to work on a coating line. You may work in one or more work stations, including the face unwind, liner unwind, die, main console/winder and Quality lab. You may be proficient on more than one coating asset in a given location. These critical team members maintain the facility, empty trash, bale corrugated material and assist the production supervisor with other necessary duties. They perform each and every task with the utmost regard for safety and security. The DTs collaborate with team members to enable success for all.
Empty collected material from containers; cut open bags, dump payloads, empty roll-arounds
Sort material by grade; separate and discard rubbish
Collaborate with team members
Perform emergency equipment repairs
Clean facility and containers
Maintain strict security of material and trucks
Ensure safe machine operations
Perform all physical tasks without assistance
Mentor others as opportunities arise
It's a 8-hour DAY SHIFT with about five hours spent on forklift or performing "Bobcat" operations. The DT spends about seven hours standing while operating machinery or moving/lifting boxes and pulling/tipping two- and four-wheeled bins weighing 25 to 525 pounds (average bin weight is 170 pounds). The DT works in an atmosphere that is not climate controlled.
High school diploma or equivalent
Current experience shredding or recycling operations/warehousing environment
Ability to lift heavy bags, push rolling carts and pull two- and four-wheeled containers
Bobcat experience is preferred
Ability to follow directions
Ability to safely operate machinery
