Overview
Clearwater Paper Corporation in Shelby NC has exciting career opportunities for experienced machine operators to support paper machine operations. Successful candidates will have a minimum of one (1) year of industrial manufacturing experience with machine operation, High School diploma or GED, and knowledge of mechanical processes. This position will work 12 hour shifts, rotating with 2 days on, 2 nights on and 4 days off. The work week rolls forward each week. This position includes the need to work OT when necessary.
A combination of experience in the following areas is also desirable: Demonstrating personal safety awareness and promoting a safe work environment, Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime, Ability to communicate effectively in a team or self-driven environment, Good mechanical and troubleshooting skills, solid computer skills, operate high speed equipment after an initial training period. Paper machine, converting, or other process related experience is also preferred.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities are not limited, but include:
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Familiar with Lockout/Tagout policies as well as Confine Space policies
Assist with control room operating duties, such as blade changes and machine sheet breaks
Examine completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work orders, and adjust machinery or notify appropriate individuals as necessary to correct production problems
Assist in Continuous Improvement projects, such as 5S events and Kaizens
Assist during maintenance outages and felt and wire changes
Move finished rolls, chemicals or other materials to and from storage or production areas and loading docks with material handling equipment
Learn DCS for Machine Operations
Learn Wet end and Dry end components of a Paper Machine
Support operations of a small gas fired Boiler – boiler startup and boiler water testing
Adjust Paper Machine Process To Maintain Quality Centerlines Of Paper
Assist Quality Department during trials
Enter Work Orders Into JDE Work Order System To Identify Equipment In Need Of Repairs
Work With Maintenance and E&I Department in Completing Work Orders

This position requires working in all areas of the paper machine. Lifting, bending
will be required. The area is hot and loud. There are slipping, tripping andfalling hazards, as well as in running nips and suspended loads. Compressedair, steam, lubrication oil and hydraulic fluid will be used in the papermachine area. Travel for this position is minimal, but may be occasionallyrequired. Overtime is required to complete critical tasks and meet deadlines.

Day Manager – Paper Machine
The Paper Machine 3 Day Manager is responsible for providing supervision and coordination of Number 3 Paper Machine production activities. This role will focus on all aspects of the paper machine's results including, but not limited to, safety, acceptance, availability, equipment reliability, quality complaints, cost control, continuous improvement and strategy deployment. Though having no direct reports, the Day Manager will have a strong influential position and direct authority for decision making with respect to the machine and operation. Position will require being on-call for some weekends and weeknights.
Job Responsibilities:
Leading and manage process improvement trials and projects.
Coordinate maintenance efforts by using MWS process.
Facilitate development and improvement of paper machine work processes.
Assist and provide training to operations personnel
Assist with development of capital project specifications.
Drive paper machine improvements from conception through implementation to production.

Support Front Line Leader's in achieving department objectives with sound business decisions.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Paper Machine Superintendent to work in partnership with leadership and employees at our Stevenson Mill in Stevenson, Alabama. Stevenson is centrally located between Chattanooga, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama. This is a unionized facility with approximately 400 employees.
This position will have the opportunity to demonstrate ownership and lead initiatives designed to drive continuous and step change improvement in our corrugated medium paper machine operation. This position is responsible for creating a strong safety culture and work environment, executing and continuously improving the quality, productivity, efficiency and cost of the operation. The Machine Superintendent must be a strong leader with a knowledge of the paper making process, paper machines, supporting equipment and paper making skills.
What you need to succeed:
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Paper Science or related field with five plus year's operations experience within the paper industry including three plus year's supervisory experience, however candidates with ten plus years' progressive and practical paper making experience including five plus years' paper machine supervisory experience will be considered.

POSITION SUMMARY
Executes predetermine methods to package product by the press or store as work in process. Performs visual inspections to detect obvious defects. Keep box counts in order to document the quantity of product being produced.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Package products at the press by following predetermine methods to minimize error.
Consistently meets production requirements.
Empty catch totes into gaylord where packaging at the press is not specified.
Perform basic visual inspection of product and report any quality defects to the shift supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Role

The #2 Paper Machine Superintendent coordinates and manages the efforts of the Paper Machine team. The superintendent is expected to manage the production resources, interface with other departments, manage the capital budget and project and operation budgets needed to attain safety, quality, production, environmental and cost goals. #2 Paper Machine is a coated board machine that produces 550 tons per day.
How you will impact WestRock
In this role, you will manage all aspects of plant involvement to ensure optimum productivity on the Paper Machine. This includes but is not limited to:
Review of production and quality results on a daily basis.
Communicates the results of Quality Objectives and Quality Management System Reviews to all levels in the department.
Gather and analyzes information to identify sources of machine downtime and quality problems. Works with the Paper Machine team to identify probable causes and coordinates efforts to correct them.
Oversight of the administration of salary workforce in his/her area with regard to salary reviews, vacations, and work assignments. Including performance evaluations and progress towards established goals.
Works with the Superintendent to develop annual goals with emphasis on safety, environment, quality, production, and cost.
Ensures proper company/ union relations according to the current labor contract. Participates in problem discussions and resolution. Participates in grievance hearings as needed.
Works with Foreman, Process Engineers, and the Operations Supervisor to plan and submit capital improvement budget for the department. Also works with the Superintendent to establish priorities
Assists engineering on capital improvement projects; participates in the review of engineering designs and drawings
What you need to succeed
Bachelors in Engineering and/or a Pulp and Paper Degree preferred
10+ years of supervision in a paper making related position including experience with paper machine operations and maintenance planning/coordination.
Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to clearly define objectives (safety, environmental, quality, and productivity) and be effective in involving others in the achievement of those objectives.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer-Paper Machine for our First Quality Tissue, SE location in Anderson, SC. This position will identify key barriers to improve machine reliability through preventative maintenance planning and promote a fortune 500 maintenance department with 90% of the time focused on the floor working with maintenance team.
Primary responsibilities include:
Promote an action oriented safety culture embracing safety as a core value, instilling and exemplifying a safety mindset for all team members resulting in an incident free workplace.
Work in conjunction with Quality department to ensure finished product satisfies all finished product quality standards.
Work with Maintenance management to develop annual goals for continually improving maintenance reliability.
Perform Root Cause Analysis and develop procedures and recommendations for permanent elimination of problems.
Develop tools and techniques to analyze and develop cost effective preventive maintenance procedures.
Identify, plan and implement projects to improve the inherent reliability of equipment.
Develop and implement standards based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing and implementing vendor standards.
Be involved in design, engineering, and manufacturing of maintenance projects and take the lead in communicating project status with all stakeholders.
Supports equipment installations, startups, and validations.
Support the Maintenance/Controls Techs as needed in troubleshooting issues on the paper machine(s).
Lead equipment performance reviews to assure actions are identified and executed addressing equipment performance gaps and implementing improvements in equipment and processes.
Prepare and present technical information to team members and management.
Reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.
Mentor, train and develop maintenance teams on new techniques, processes and procedures on engineered changes.
Promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement among all team members.
Responsible to meet all defined yearly objectives.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred in a high speed manufacturing environment.
OR
Associate's degree or minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing Maintenance environment.
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
Advanced knowledge of technology and mechanics.
Knowledge of product specifications, quality specifications, goals, efficiency, scrap and production.
SAP knowledge preferred.
