- Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces, and plane, shave, file, scrape, and sand models to attain specified shapes, using hand tools.
- Verify dimensions of completed patterns, using templates, straightedges, calipers, or protractors.
- Repair broken or damaged patterns.
- Set up, operate, and adjust a variety of woodworking machines such as bandsaws and lathes to cut and shape sections, parts, and patterns, according to specifications.
- Fit, fasten, and assemble wood parts together to form patterns, models, or sections, using glue, nails, dowels, bolts, and screws.
- Read blueprints, drawings, or written specifications to determine sizes and shapes of patterns and required machine setups.
- Correct patterns to compensate for defects in castings.
- Finish completed products or models with shellac, lacquer, wax, or paint.
- Lay out patterns on wood stock and draw outlines of units, sectional patterns, or full-scale mock-ups of products, based on blueprint specifications and sketches, and using marking and measuring devices.
- Glue fillets along interior angles of patterns.
- Mark identifying information such as colors or codes on patterns, parts, and templates to indicate assembly methods.

Pattern Maker/Product Development Coordinator
Plantation Patterns, a division of NBGHome, is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality outdoor cushions and umbrellas in the United States. We are currently seeking a Pattern Maker/Product Development Coordinator to be based in our Birmingham, ALfacility.
This role develops new product pattern work (cut and sewn pillows and cushions) for Plantation Patterns product development workshop. It also supports the Product Development Manager in creating detailed specifications of all products including drawings and maintaining the FileMaker Development Database. Additional duties include coordinating and facilitating the sample order process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following with other duties as assigned:
- Pattern Making-Using AutoCAD Software
- Generates Specifications sheets including Product Drawings using Auto Cad Software
- Support Product Development Manager will all activities related to the product development process
- Sample Order Management
- Fabric Management
- Shipping Samples.
Significant experience using AutoCAD required. Photoshop and Illustrator a Plus.
Significant experience using Microsoft Office is required. Intermediate level in Excel and PowerPoint required.
Education and/or Experience -
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with an emphasis in Industrial Design or Industrial Engineering; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 Years of Pattern Making and AutoCAD experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Read job sheet to determine customer specifications.
Edit customer specifications if necessary for proper manufacturing.
Selects appropriate material for order.
Draw patterns and manually cut material.
Load vinyl material onto cutting table manually or with assistance of loading crane.
Operate Autometrixs cutting table machine to cut material to specifications.
Monitor cutting to ensure proper operation.
Inspect quality of cut material.
Complete paperwork for continued production.
Stage cut materials for next operation of manufacturing.
Conduct material inventory counts and maintain adequate inventory levels.
Operate various department equipment and hand tools such as a punch and vinyl cutter to conduct additional cutting and fabrication processes.
Basic computer skills are a must
Knowledge of Excel and computer aided drafting software such as Auto CAD is preferred
Ability to obtain fork lift, man lift and crane certification.

The pattern engineer designs and fabricates food industry parts, stock parts, and parts orders in an efficient manner to ensure a seamless flow of parts throughout the plant.
· Design parts using Solidworks. Provide layout and setup drawings for the assembling of the food industry parts and for customer reference.
· Work with the pattern department manager on new machine orders for food industry parts, parts for the parts department and aftermarket parts.
· Receive parts from Mechanical Engineer and program to be cut on CNC router using Mastercam. Reorder parts needed through parts coordinator or material manager when necessary. Check reorder points on parts to insure adequate inventory, and deliver parts to other departments in the plant as necessary.
· Record time through Counterpart when necessary for tracking of time on specific jobs. Document information regarding work performed on individual parts. Including checklists and computer entries.
· Program, setup, and operate CNC router. Machine parts to specifications on detail prints provided, or as instructed. This may include programming your own parts as well as other parts in the department. Setup tooling, work pieces, and CNC router machine offsets as needed. Supply and maintain measuring, and set up tools, which are common to the machinist’s trade.
· A quality check is required on all parts that you manufacture. This may be an internal or external process. Perform work and cross train on various positions or equipment as required. Fit change parts to machines and work with the test team running the machines.
· Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties daily, as well as maintain a professional appearance.
· Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
· Mastercam programming experience preferred.
· Must have Solidworks experience.

Optical Pattern Operator
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control has an opening for a Pattern Operator at the Orlando, FL facility. • Sets up, operates and adjusts a variety of photolithographic production equipment used to perform required operations and tests on production parts with optical patterns. Additionally sets up and operates manual, and computer controlled equipment, such as coat, deposition, cleaning, and similar photolithographic equipment used in optical applications. • Works under general direction and from production schedules, manufacturing procedures, process, and written or oral instruction.
Use knowledge of photolithographic process to perform production of optical patterned parts. • Operates and carefully adjusts parts and materials into fixture with proper alignment for operations. • Use manual and computer controlled equipment to apply pattern and deposition masks on optical parts to ensure proper placement of materials. • Works in cleanroom with delicate optical components which are highly sensitive, precise and require special handling. • Performs metal lift off and etch processes to create micron sized features. • Uses gages, microscope, electronic instruments and small tools to check dimensions, handle materials and prepare parts for subsequent operations. • For processing of optical patterned parts; uses small hand tools, scales and measures, mixes materials for processes according to production specifications. Set up certain processing units according to process specifications and instructions. Processes performed are one or more of the following: acid and solvent cleaning, coating, baking, etching, exposing, developing, stripping and aligning.
During processing may adjust and modify process within normal parameters to compensate for specific conditions. In case of major deviation supervisor and more experienced personnel will provide guidance. • Loads, monitors operation and unloads components from ovens, cleaning stations and marking machines associated with optical patterned parts. • Before, during and after process steps, performs checks and tests to verify that materials meet pre-determined specifications. Maintain production and operating records and logs to document processes performed, product completed, quality and operating data. • Checks product being fabricated/assembled for conformance to specifications and standard using manual and automated evaluation equipment. • Observes all safety precautions when using process equipment and hazardous materials.
Follows directions and procedures to maintain specified level of cleanliness in work area. • Cleans and performs routine and/or minor maintenance, tool repair and any other area related assignments as required. • Requires significant attention to detail for production activities and documentation to maintain compliance with Mil.
