Machine Vision Engineer - Portland, OR Specify, design, and implement machine vision and test systems for new and existing high speed manufacturing, Surface Mount Technology, and electronic assembly equipment. Apply machine vision technology in a manufacturing environment for: online and offline inspection, vision controlled positioning, defect analysis, Automated Optical Inspection, Solder Paster Inspection, and optical character verification.
Write and interpret technical specifications. Select and apply optics and novel lighting techniques. Utilize Visual Basic, VB.net (Visual Studio), and similar software. Troubleshoot new and existing vision systems (DVT, Cognex, PC based Frame Grabber Systems, and similar.)
PT Press Journeyman/Woman
Job Description The Part-Time Press/Mail Journeyman/Woman position is designed to prepare those with little or no experience for to become a skilled and knowledgeable Press/Mail Journeyman/Woman. On the job training is provided by the pressroom foreman, assistant foreman, and journeymen, to learn how to operate and care for printing press, folder, and reels as well as operation of the plate and mailroom areas of the operation.
The training can last over a four-year period or less based on the individual’s ability to learn, retain information and demonstrate the skills learned. Daily duties of spotting plates, and setting out materials for cleaning the pressroom, cleaning up press and press area, as well as learning how to operate the mailroom and plateroom are required. The person in this position must do their part to minimize white waste, printed waste, and press downtime attributed to paster breaks, running breaks, and other mechanical or operational failures.
The person in this role must be a team player and work together (with pressroom foremen, journeymen, production, TS, and mailroom) as a team to produce consistent quality reproduction, that meets dispatch schedules, and to maintain an efficient and cost effective operation.
TRAINING ITEMS - Lead sheets, line up margins, line up sections, plate up press, quality control, load reels, how to make up pasters, operate reels, set ink and water balance. Error bundle correction, sorting copies, proper dispatching of copies. Full plateroom operational training.
Throw unit’s in and out, change blankets, learn lubrication points, set up angle bars. Operation of Wrapping, Strapping, and Conveyors. MCS programming, Harland Simon, labeling equipment, and stackers.
Change & set rollers, switch from one folder to the other, and general maintenance for printing, press, folders, and reels. Reset ink keys change pins, cutting rubbers, and knife boxes in folder.
Learn registration system. List preparation and manifest sorting duties.
Set folder up (reset trolley’s, guide rollers, former board, nips, folding rollers, adjust delivery pan and belt’s.) comp unit’s, change slitters, and adjust slitters and slitter rings, throw folder in and out, overload clutch and driveshaft, switch from straight to collect on folder. Know how to setup ABB and Harland Simon for the production run.
Fluent in all mailroom and press room functions to take lead role. The schedule or order of training is at the sole discretion of the Company. The person in this job shall perform such additional duties as directed by the Foreman. In addition this job description may be changed or modified at any time per the sole discretion of the Company to meet change business objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
The operation of Goss doublewide printing presses
Press setup including newsprint roll preparation, threading newsprint through the press, preparing press units for color requirements, installing printing plates, and ensuring correct unit and folder settings prior to press start-up
Printing within industry quality standards and meeting production deadlines
Installation of printing plates on press between zoned editions
Performing minor maintenance tasks on presses and related equipment
Loading 1,500 lb. newsprint rolls onto roll carts and into press reels. Prepare paster patterns on newsprint rolls for splicing onto running web
Cleaning press units, blankets, plate cylinders, ink trains, and surrounding areas of the pressroom.

Background & Purpose of the Job The Assistant Pasteurizer operates the correct formulas and processes to supply the manufacturing department with the mix needed to meet scheduled production requirements. Who You Are & What You’ll Do •Responsible for performing job functions in a manner that promotes a safe work environment, including compliance with confined space, PPE, fall protection, and all other safety policies and practices. •Sets up tanks and silos to receive product, including sanitizing and the assembly and disassembly of equipment. Operates system to assemble batches of mix according to the required specifications, and ensures completion of all required paperwork. •Orders necessary ingredients per formula specifications.
Acquires familiarity with outside purchases of liquid ingredients and ability to forecast the needs of doing so. •Responsible for ensuring compliance with all GMP and quality requirements, including the cleanliness of the mix area. •Monitors equipment for malfunctions and performs minor repairs when needed. Communicates with management and maintenance department regarding reoccurring problems and repair needs. •Oversees mix room operations, including rework personnel. •Plays active role within the WCM and other continuous improvement activities. Works with inspectors during equipment testing. •Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. What You’ll Need To Succeed •Proficient understanding of computers.
