Quality Control Inspector
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that product meets the NARSTCO acceptance criteria by conducting receiving, first part, in-process and final inspections and identifying and documenting any non-conformances. The Quality Control Inspector will also be responsible for ensuring that all inspection equipment is in proper working condition and calibrated.
Carryout to the extent required, production activities for the processing of any and all NARSTCO products
Read and interpret drawings and inspection acceptance criteria
Use conventional and product specific instruction equipment, fixtures and jigs
Conduct inspection on received purchased product, first part run on a new set up, in process production and final sample prior to release of product
Work closely with manufacturing, engineering and other management personnel
Identify potential nonconformance and methods preventing nonconformance and methods to improve processes
Review rework of nonconforming product, identifying and pulling nonconforming product from line and notifying lead or production supervisor of nonconforming product for rework requirement
Identify potential safety hazards and methods to improve overall plant safety
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
Work at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion
Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and instructional material and manuals
To exercise the utmost degree of integrity, honesty, good faith and fidelity to the Company, in dealing with the Company and with its customers, employees, suppliers and other public entities
Provide other reasonable services as the Company may request from time to time
Ability to work with little to no supervision

The job operates primarily in the production area of the NARSTCO facility and work will require exposure to dangerous machinery, outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, fumes, sparks, metal dust and industrial moving parts.
Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policy and Safety Regulations must be adhered to at all times.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, listen, talk, kneel, twist, reach, push/pull, climb, and work may involve lifting up to 50 pounds individually and assistance must be required for anything over 50 pounds. Lifting is required about 4 hours per day.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are based on a shift schedule from 8 hours per day to 12 hours per day pending production needs during the year, up to 40 hours per week and overtime depending on company internal and external project demands.
Education and Experience
High School diploma required
Associates degree preferred
Knowledge of ISO 9001 or M1003 preferred
One year or more experience in machined and cast product inspection in a manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings required
Knowledge and use of inspection equipment required
Ability to read written inspection instructions and inspection equipment calibration instructions required
Knowledge of the metric system a bonus
Ability to work well with tools and machinery required
Experience in industrial, production manufacturing and fabrication preferred

SCOPE OF POSITION
Electrical & Instrument Technicians install, repair or maintain in accordance with manufacturer’s or site specifications, electrical and instrument equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Shift work is required.
• Inspect, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects and starters in order to protect personnel, equipment and to keep processes running.
• Remove and replace filters in equipment in order to maintain equipment efficiency.
• Lubricate motors, valves and bearings and other equipment in order to prolong life and keep equipment running and efficient.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as automatic valves, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in order to restore to operation.
• Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment.
• Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures
• Drill and tap various types of metal and plastics in order to produce pieces and parts to desired specification or to install new equipment or revise existing.
• Make list of needed materials in order to do specific job.
• Lock, tag, try and test energy sources in order make equipment inoperable and safe to work on.
• Plan and coordinate work with other crafts while installing new work or replacing existing parts with new models.
• Inspect ladders, tools, job sites, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, electrical cords, etc. in order to ensure safety and protect personnel.
• Communicate with other employees using hand-held radios, telephones, e-mail, etc. in order to perform jobs efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and make repairs on automatic valves, electrical starters, motors, relays, pneumatic and electronic instrumentation.
• Perform routine maintenance on electrical, pneumatic and mechanical devices using hand and power tools, electrical and electronic measuring and test devices, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Remove and place back into service control type instrumentation after calibrating, services, troubleshooting, range change and maintenance work performed such as:
o Flow transmitters
o Level transmitters
o Temperature transmitters
o On-line process analyzers
• Basic computer skills for ordering materials, communication, entering equipment history and electronic mail.
• Remove malfunctioning motors. Replace with new or rebuilt.
• Must be capable of wearing all protective type of equipment needed to complete jobs in safe and orderly fashion.
• Dismantle and remove old equipment and wire without interfering with unit operation.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Receive training and be able to retrieve OSHA information such as PSM, MSDS, hazardous material lists, safety procedures, corporate standards, etc.
• I&E Technicians will reinforce the safety principles of the area and site and ensure trainees follow the standard work practices and procedures.
• Must be willing to learn new jobs and train other employees.
• Regular attendance is an essential job requirement.
• Measure, cut and solder various instrument or electrical devices in order to replace defective equipment or install new equipment.
• Make brackets and hangers in order to secure items.
• Repair/repack or replace automatic valves in order to restore to working order.
• Troubleshoot electronic instrumentation problems related to the process and make necessary repairs.
• Comply with plant safety and environmental requirements, accepting the responsibility for personal safety. Must know the process hazards and mechanical hazards of assigned job and what safety equipment is required.
• Be available to work overtime and understand that it is a job requirement if no volunteers can be found.
• Troubleshoot and correct problems with Distributive Control Systems equipment using test equipment and techniques to restore equipment to operation.
• Perform routine maintenance on Distributive Control Systems using hand and power tools, electrical and electronic measuring and test devices, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and repair solid state electronic devices.
• Create, review and modify job procedures, SOP’s and other knowledge documents.
• High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
• Five (5) years industry experience in instrumentation and electrical.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge.
