The successful candidate will oversee a 25 bed Pediatrics Unit.
Summary:
The Director assumes 24-hour responsibility for planning, supervising, and evaluating the care of patients to ensure comprehensive and continuous care for each patient/family in the Pediatrics (PEDs) Unit.
Reports to the CNO and provides overall direction for employees, and 24 hour accountability and budgetary responsibility for the unit.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the PEDs Unit and provide quality cost effective care for the patient population. 24/7 accountability.
Manage the departmental budget and develop cost containment strategies to operate the department.
Lead/participate in departmental performance improvement activities and integration of services.
Develop departmental interfaces and interface with internal and external customers to provide exemplary service and achieve goals.
Participate in multi-disciplinary committees.
Support change-is an advocate of system change and improvement. Leads the change process to ensure that change is successfully implemented.
Facilitates learning opportunities to ensure personal and professional growth of department staff.
Review, updates and ensure compliance with policy and procedures related to the PEDs Unit.
Ensure that new employees are oriented and trained appropriately.
Act as a preceptor and resource for the department processes.
Experience:
5+ years acute care pediatric nursing experience required
3-5 years management experience in a Pediatrics Unit highly preferred
Director Level experience in Pediatrics preferred
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field highly preferred
Certifications / Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) preferred
Special Skills:
Requires skill in interpersonal communication, group dynamics, problem solving, delegation, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching.
Be skilled communicators and educators, particularly when teaching families how to care for an ill infant.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to assess staff needs and develop objective goals.
Basic computer skills a must.
